Almost two-thirds of likely Iowa voters polled say it is time for someone other than Chuck Grassley to serve in the U.S. Senate, casting doubt on the prospects of the longest-serving senator in the state's history

ByAlmost two-thirds of likely Iowa voters polled say it is time for someone other than Chuck Grassley to serve in the U.S. Senate, casting doubt on the prospects of the longest-serving senator in the state's history., 64 percent of those surveyed said "it's time for someone else" to occupy that seat, compared to 27 percent who said they'd vote to elect Grassley to an eighth term in 2022. Seven out of 10 female voters said they wanted to see him replaced.

In the poll, 51 percent of Republicans said they would support Grassley again, but only 7 percent of Democrats and 23 percent of independents shared that view.

Time to send him to Shady Pines for life.

'Almost two-thirds of likely Iowa voters?' This is double talk garbage. Who did the poll? Were the voters all Democrats? Show your work, Politico!!

Get someone who can stay awake after 3 PM

Time to rid ourselves of these archaic, want to keep their gravy train job politicians!!!

People talking about term limits have forgotten Chris Christie's beach vacation. We need something, but term limits ain't it.

This is probably the worst Boomer trait - never being willing to step aside and give others a chance. Voters’ lack of imagination results in just voting for the name the recognize.

Make sure you don’t do a pole in Nancy Pelosi’s district, just stick to the narrative that the Republicans are too old. 😉

Get a Democrat in there to replace Grassley. Tried his crap for 35 years. Don’t work. So let’s try a Democrat for 6 years and let’s compare

Term limits for ALL. 80 YEARS OLD IS ENOUGH

They still prefer REPUBLICAN. Iowa is now the deep flat red state.

FFS dude is like 90.

But they will vote him in next time.

Feinstein and McConnell should be term limited as well

If only they could vote him out

I guess the reason they stay so long is they can, the laws need to change. Republicans are the party of no and block all progress for the American people. Tax breaks for the wealthy only.

How his district is gerrymandered will actually determine the election outcome.

He’s 8 years older than Emmet Till

There should be term limits on all three branches of the Government!!

The problem could be his replacement may be one of the Trump cultists in the Republican Party.

Grassley and others are a clear example of the need for term limits. It seems pretty clear that “politician” should not be a career. Serve, affect change and then move on.

We need term limits.

Sad how he is now. A complicit ignoramus. ChuckGrassley FareedZakaria jmeacham NRO

May Hod bless you!

JoanPennnative ⛔️This ancient, crumbling patriarchal version of governance. We need to revisit ALL of our defunct, outdated systems & devise ones for the 21st century needs and beyond. Term limits too, to avoid out-of-touch politicians aging in place for decades

Why not let the old boy run again? If he wins, he can take his oath on a stack of $100 bills given him by his wealthy contributors instead of a stupid Bible. ChuckGrassley

I'm sick of these..

Isn't he like 100? He's in the silent generation for crying out loud!

In Senate hearings, Chuck sounds like the guy yelling at a Home Depot employee about the evils of energy efficient light bulbs.

Put that dusty fossil out to pasture!

Isn’t he like fucking 86?

And if they can find someone younger, dumber, and whiter they'll run him in the primary.

They kept choosing him

It’s time for ChuckGrassley to retire.

He's old as Methuselah. He should have been gone.

Okay now do Patrick Leahy!

Pidgin

They are so right!!

Chuck was old enough to see 'The Wizard of Oz' & 'Gone With The Wind' in theaters. Heck, Chuck's parents probably *DID* take him to see Dorothy, as he was 6 years old when it came out!

Bye Chuck!

People talk about term limits, it ain’t gonna happen. Primary the guy or vote him out in the general. A good candidate should beat a soon-to-be nonagenarian, you’d think. If someone can’t beat him fair and square, it’s kinda ageist to push the guy out.

Another Democrat poll. Republicans love him

He'll be 88 in September.

It's ridiculous this guy makes decisions for anyone. Retire already.

Grumpy Grandpa needs to go. He’s no longer relevant. Period

Yeh he had ripped the system long enough

Keep him!!!

One would hope.

Ya think?

They should have figured it out in 2016 when he was last up for re-election.

GRASS WITHERS.

Please…let this be true.

As one of Chuck Grassley's constituents, all I have to say is thank goodness! Way, way past time.

I think for RepAshleyHinson will run for IASEN race in 2022 and for she will win the primary and the general election with BissellZakrey support/endorsement here.

When History Channel programming is your big problem, it's time to call it quits.

News 📢: It's time to go.. Exits stage right.

Republicans only want term limits for Democrats

Right. But you KNOW that, even if they think that now, if he's on the primary or general election ballot, voters will choose him again. Force of habit. He hasn't gotten less than 60% of the vote since 1980. No Dem has won above 36% against him since then, either. SureThing

Ok Iowa let’s see

Funny how they keep voting for him.

Chuck must be voted out! He really needs to retire and go home, let someone with better and brighter ideas come in! Chuck is too old school! Oust him, give the old man a break! 🤔👏

I would think they’d want someone who will be part of their future to go to DC for them.

He is a 100 years old

A new generation of Iowa GOP voters are emerging…those who supported Chuck C. for decades are either; deceased, or focused on their twilight years by now.

TheWomensWatch

We will see if they back it up during the midterms

I know at least one more person keeping an eye on Grassley….

This was the pinnacle of air travel the year Chuck Grassley & Diane Feinstein were born. TermLimits

What's the problem? He's too young for an oath keeper?

Can Iowans just cast aside a man who was there when the state entered the Union?

Term. Limits.

This was the Ford assembly line the year Chuck Grassley was born.

When reporting on an incumbent's running for another term, mentioning their record would be helpful. I looked up Grassley, he has sponsored 92 bills that were enacted over his 40 years in Congress. Grassley missed 46 of 13,792 roll call votes, which is 0.3%, the median is 1.6%.

Chuck Grassley was almost 40 years old when this 8-track was released!

Grassley has lost his roots and values. He needs to be replaced, hopefully by a Democrat.

Grassley replied, ‘gibberty blibbrp, ack!’

Grassley needs to go and take Feinstein with him.

Strong defender of whistleblowers then not. Embarrassing and a deep stain on his legacy.

Shouldn’t be making policy for years he won’t even be alive.

Not to be an alarmist BUT with so many SENIOR senior citizens holding Senate seats since the days of Chubby Checker, a reminder: we are one Grim Reaper call away from Senate control either shifting to Republicans OR becoming more securely in the Democratic Party column.

Term limits

C'mon Chuck, it's time to go. Put you ego on hold and do what's best for Iowans, not you.

Need to get rid of all these old politicians!

10 years to late!

Chuckles needs to be put out to pasture. Long overdue

Republicans in IA bitch constantly about term limits, and then keep voting for him. If he’s the GOP nominee, they will do it again ☹️

I never get polled and I agree completely…

ModerateVoters 🙏🏽

He'll win again easily, if he wants to run.

ioncorruption Assley

I would totally salute his service but so in favor of TermLimits Grassley could go out on top and there are pleany of competent Republicans that could succeed him.

Is it because he’s not trumpy enough?🤔
