Eight tests per person per month have been mandated.

FILE - Youngstown City Health Department worker Faith Terreri grabs two at-home COVID-19 test kits to be handed out during a distribution event, Dec. 30, 2021, in Youngstown, Ohio.

Starting Saturday, private health insurers will be required to cover up to eight home COVID-19 tests per month for those on their plans, the Biden administration announced Monday, as it looks to lower costs and make testing for the virus more convenient amid rising frustrations.

has tests in supply

Cool. Where do we actually get them tho?

Can everyone please read the article before being outraged about 'having to take 8 covid tests'

All this article says is that insurance companies must cover those costs, so that if people need up to 8 tests in a month for whatever reason they can get them through insurance. Why are people bitching, that's what Insurance is for isn't it? Covering medical expenses?

Just send them to us.... But no....they need a song and a frigging dance....

The headline is deliberately misleading. Just another example of conservative KIRO putting a right wing spin on headlines to stir up s&t and divide us more. Don’t listen to KIRO or KOMO!

There goes our insurance rates. 😕

We’ll need all 8 of them to show we’re positive 1 time. I know someone who did 5 or 6 antigen tests over 8 days w/symptoms. Never turned positive. Got a PCR test. It was positive. They knew they had Covid due to symptoms. These antigen tests are worthless.

That's good news, but do you know how hard to is to find even one test at this point?

Where are we supposed to find them? You can’t even get an in person test appointment right now.

My crystal ball says, “Insurance Rates will go WAY UP in your near future.” So it is written…So it shall be done.

Smh

I see a lot of people are misunderstanding the headline. It's not people being forced to test 8 times a month. It is that insurance companies are being mandated to provide 8 tests per month per person.

No i don’t think so

Thats bullshit. I dont need to be tested 8 damn times

Their not working anyway. New strain isn’t being picked up as well as it should.

Why? I’ve only been tested a few times for work over the last two years. If you’re not symptomatic, why test. Most people survive Covid and Omicron is the least threatening. Fully vaccinated but seeing the futility in this.

If you can find any

It's awesome that Lord God Biden can just wave his hand and make up new rules and tell people what to do.

0 times 8 equals 0

Does Anyone Think These Costs won't be past on to the Consumer? This just causes further inflation, Economics 101! Why not make them available IF Needed and some sort of rebate system? Admin cost's of this alone causes higher costs!😎

No worse than the flu no studies done on the long term affects that altering your DNA will have on you and it may affect your human rights because of a bill that was passed in 2013 natural immunity is best

Very good. But 8 tests in a month, we can't find one test right now. But ok.

Can’t even find one to buy for my sick kid.

Lesssss goooooooo brannndddddddoooonnnn

35-86 storage? Nevermind the cold front in the country. And how careless people are.. makes you wonder how many are non working, or even worse, potentially dangerous? But why cover that? It's not clickbait until people die, then we can keep score!

Bet all those politicians have stock in Abbott.

And you have to 'bill' your insurance for them. God only knows what that process will be like! 10 forms in triplicate only to find out you fill out form 7 incorrectly. Our Medical 'system' is a joke.

Based on your headline, it sounded A LOT like being tested was the mandate, NOT that insurers are being mandated to cover the costs of these tests. Maybe work on your headlines a little bit so they're a little more accurate and to the point?

And if you don't have insurance?

😲where are we going to get the money for that? Health insurance will go sky high.

Are they freaking nuts i got my vaccinations twice

So I need to pay 25-35 dollars up front for each one (usually there is 2 in each box) and then maybe my insurance will send me a check? until they get backed up, overwhelmed, short staffed, you'll see that reimbursement sometime 2023

Fuck this country man socialism at its finest everyone is fucking scared getting the shot and mandating like if we depend on them when we don’t

Mandates aren’t LAWS!!!!!!!!

This headline caught my attention and got me to click on it. Too bad you focused on the short-term attention grab at the expense of my trust. Hey, KIRO 7, was it worth it? Now when I see any news put out by you I'll need to verify it somewhere else. Maybe KING 5 or KOMO.

Get vaccinated and booster then no one would have to worry about getting tested

Yall need to fire whoever wrote that unclear ass headline cause that was some bullshit when I got the notification about it.

Well you all do know they are impossible to find right?

This is so dumb

Some of the problem is that people are testing themselves when its not needed. 99% of the time, a test is not needed.

This is absolutely ridiculus! Almost 2 years and I haven't taken a single test. itsjusttheflu

man, billgates is making a ton on his covid testing company. gezzz

Ok so they can mandate that insurance has to cover certain things....why not make it cover more than just covid tests?

too little, too late

8 per person, per month. This would be 32 for my household. Nah, this won't affect future insurance rates at all.

Mandated? You mean authorized for reimbursement?

Tests aren’t available so looks like insurance companies get to keep their money.
