Adam Weakley, 30, died at MetroHealth about one hour after he was found unresponsive at the jail, county officials said.

Adam Weakley, 30, was found unresponsive about 6:40 p.m. Saturday, a news release from Cuyahoga County officials says. Correction and medical staff members gave Weakley medical treatment before he was taken to MetroHealth.

Online court records show two cases listed as “closed” involving Weakley. In 2013, he was charged with attempted felonious assault, and in 2020, he was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, criminal damaging and aggravated menacing. A six-month competency evaluation in July 2021 stated that Weakley was still not competent to stand trial, and the order for mental health treatment was still in place. The most recent court record in the case, dated this past Friday, showed a pre-trial hearing scheduled for the case for Tuesday.

“The loss of any life is tragic and impacts so many,” Viland’s statement says. “We offer our deepest condolences to those close to Mr. Weakley.”Nine inmates died in 11 months
