NEW DELHI—India’s powerful home minister on Sunday said that he has tested positive for coronavirus and been admitted to a hospital on the same day the country reported its highest daily number of new cases so far.
Amit Shah, a longtime ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and widely seen as India’s second most powerful politician, tweeted the development on Sunday afternoon in New Delhi. Neither he or the Indian government immediately provided further details.
