FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Republican Mike Cronk is running for District 36 in the Alaska House of Representatives.

He said he is running because he wants to make sure rural Alaska has a voice in Juneau. “I was a teacher for 25 years. I served on the Fish and Game Board Advisory Committee for 25 years. As soon as I retired from teaching, I was elected to the regional school board, so I guess I kind of have a little history of representing people.”

Cronk says he wants Alaska to have a comprehensive fiscal plan. “We can’t go to Juneau and just keep fighting over the same stuff and being divided all the time. We need to solve the fiscal issues. That’s the Permanent Fund. That’s the budget. That’s revenue. We need to keep developing our resources. We are a resource state, and no one develops resources better than Alaska does.

He said Alaska needs to be open for business. “It doesn’t matter to me if you’re in my district or not in my district. If somebody calls my office, I’m going to do my best to help them in situations, and honestly, there’s calls every day. There’s issues. There’s issues that are important to people, and I just feel that I am a really good representative down there for every person. Political background doesn’t matter to me. I am going to help whoever needs help.”Copyright 2022 KTVF.
