FILE - In this Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, file photo, people gather in Jefferson Square in Louisville, awaiting word on charges against police officers in the death of Breonna Taylor. For months, Taylor's name has been a rallying cry for Black activists who hoped Black women and their deaths at the hands of police would finally receive the same attention given to cases concerning the extrajudicial killing of Black men.
“We knocked on the door, said police, waited I don’t know 10 or 15 seconds. Knocked again, said police, waited even longer,” Louisville police Lt. Shawn Hoover said in an interview recorded March 13, the same date Taylor was shot, and later played for the grand jury. Officers had a “no-knock” warrant to search Taylor’s apartment for drugs. But Attorney General later said officers announced themselves. It’s a key issue because the officers said they opened fire after Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a gunshot at them. Walker said he didn’t know the men who burst into the home were police.
Cameron, whose office led the investigation into police actions in the Taylor shooting, did not object to the file’s release. But on Wednesday, his office asked for a week’s extension to edit out personal information from the material. The judge gave him two days., has acknowledged that he did not recommend homicide charges for the officers involved.
This is incredible. I would think if serving a search warrant resulted in a death they would tear the place apart. It's just beyond odd.
How would they search the apartment when it was the scene of a death? No police department in its right mind would let a much of officers traipse over a death scene to look for narcotics.
They knocked on a no knock warrant? Yeah cool story bro
your not reporting anything different than before in this; 12 witnesses said that police didn't announce themselves before bursting through the door in the middle of the night, then a month later ONE witness CHANGED his story, and he can be heard saying he just wanted to go home
This is not what they said in the beginning. Theyve changed their story. Telltale sign of LIES.
They knocked on the door with a NO KNOCK warrant? Yeah ok...
oh goody just a bit more riots for the weekend
Whats the point of releasing this now? Only to creat more drama and confusion amongst people of color and animosity towards whites/cops. Stop it. The girl is gone, we cant bring her back. We already know justice will not be served. Stop falling for the bait people.
When she was shot it immediately became a homicide investigation which trumps a search warrant.
They fired shots... in a house... they suspected children were in...
Breonna six part part deep w/ leaked info:
If the warrant issue wasn’t concerning enough to think they called off an ambulance that was on standby an hour before the raid. 20 minutes to get medical attention that could’ve already been onsite
Omg allllll lies!!
They are so courteous to knock on a NO-KNOCK warrant in the middle of the night. 🙄
Of course they knocked... that's what police do when serving a no knock warrant because, you know, those things are issued with instructions that police always be polite. /sarcasm What's worse is they failed to execute the search. They should all be lynched.
It’s amazing all of the people who aren’t attorneys or in law enforcement who believe they have any clue whatsoever of what they are complaining about. Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean it was wrong, illegal, or murder.
Selective truthfulness of law enforcement is an epic fail.
So it was so important to get into that apartment that they broke the door down. But then they didn’t search for anything?
Every single neighbor said the police did not identify themselves. They didn’t knock on the door, they broke it down. They got one neighbor to change their story during a third interview. Why the third interview and what made them change their story?
10 years ago you all be calling her stupid and saying what is wrong with her for shacking up with a looser. Today she’s your hero because you all want a race war
renato_mariotti why do I get the feeling that's not normal even if there's a fatality during the warrant search?
Police dont gingerly knock or softly announce themselves. Esp at night when all is quiet theas no mistaking arrival of kkkops They're LOUD ASF in their entry and they literally YELL ' POLICE!' NO WAY neighbors let alone Breonna & Kenny couldn't have heard it IF IT REALLY HAPPENED
Wasn’t the police who shot her were recorded walking around in the apartment after the shooting asking about shell casings?
jenndogg1 .GOV, capitalists, scientists, educators & ultimately big tech became a monolith of self-anointed advocates for SJ. That day, free-will & individual freedom began to disappear under the oppressive weight of altruism. Religion bares some blame POPE! R.E.D.!
Anyone find a good timestamp in the audio?
Then why state that it was a no knock warrant? Also, who knocks in a door in the middle of the night and do you think people are doing to answer? Bedroom doors closed, fans on, I can’t hear shit! They tapped on the door then before busting in and shoot the shit out of the place
Yet what's her name's mommy exhorted money
Okay. Why would they 'search' her apartment after they discovered the target of the search was not there? That would be stupid. I suspect even a journalist would get that. She was shot standing in a hallway next to a guy who shot a cop. That investigation did happen.
That testimony is about to be crushed! SOMEONEISLYING
Sure, I'm gonna believe some murderous cops with a NO-KNOCK warrant and NO body cams in 2020 or ANY YEAR that they knocked and announced themselves 2x in a span of 45 seconds 🙄 Fvck. Outta. Here. 🐷.
Seems everyone has accepted or forgot that the warrant itself was illegal. They lied in order to get it.
It seems to me that breonna Taylor's boyfriend was shooting at the police first and that's their reason for doing what they did to defend themselves. He need to be thrown in prison. Drug dealers always opening fire on police officers so im not ruling out his socalled innocence.
How far away was their bedroom from the front door. I know I couldn’t hear a cop announce and knock from mine.
Keep talking! That prosecutor is done being near the Law that should be blind and respectful to others regardless of race, creed, religion.
Why the fuck is a police officer in a grand jury hearing? The prosecutor should present their BEST case to such a jury, not the defendants best case. This smells like bullshit!
timeline:
Why knocking on a a No Knock Warrant? Had the order been changed and why? If no search what was the reason for the visit? She was not under investigation though name was schlepped on top.of file as a hint ricochet.
Charging recommendations, deliberations not included in hours of material released in grand jury proceedings of Breonna Taylor's fatal shooting by police.
Yet no body cams, soooo
Well, cops lie. AGs are cops too.
11 neighbors plus Kenneth Walker say that police did not announce. Police interviewed ONE witness 3 times to get what they needed to justify the killing of Breonna Taylor.
Many people at the apartment complex say the police didn't announce themselves. The police report says they found no drugs and the boyfriend they were after wasn't hurt.
BULLSHIT THE KNOCKED. MORE LIKE KNOCKED DOWN.
So they lied since it was later found on body cameras that they also said weren’t available. Cc: jemelehill
Obviously from the look of things, police is one job that is cursed everywhere around the world. Police in US isn't different from that of Nigeria. The only difference is that the former is well equipped while the latter isnt. BlackBirdsOfAFeather. MenInBlack!
So the body cam video showing them searching the apartment might want to object to this testimony.
They executed a search warrant but did no searching?
