“Good ol’ boy system”: Dozens of current and former troopers tell AP the Louisiana State Police is plagued by a culture of impunity, nepotism and in some cases outright racism.

State police later acknowledged Greene was involved in a “struggle” with troopers but officials from Gov.

Even the agency’s superintendent acknowledged that the state police have lost the public’s trust, due in part to an “old-fashioned culture” in Louisiana’s northern parishes in which some troopers are conditioned to punish anyone who runs from them or disrespects the badge. Former colleagues described him as a loyal friend and skilled investigator who brought country canny to his policing. When a young trooper got his cruiser stuck in the mud, Brown towed him out with his tractor. He was well connected and understood the politics of state police, serving as a sergeant over narcotics before being promoted to a major overseeing statewide criminal investigations.

Brown was overheard in the office commiserating with colleagues over the results of a state police promotional exam. Some troopers were mad about how they’d scored and felt the test was flawed. The former sheriff, who is white, insisted that no one working in the state police’s Monroe office, including himself, objected to the flag’s placement.

Jacob Brown grew up with three siblings in Monroe, playing baseball and basketball at a Catholic school. He had perfect attendance for 12 years and volunteered at vacation Bible school. He showed an early interest in enforcing rules, working as an umpire, and loved hunting so much he got a tattoo of 10 flying ducks on his right shoulder.

At the training academy in Baton Rouge, however, Brown quickly demonstrated the type of trooper he would become. “These character flaws are a strong indication of the type of trooper Cadet Brown will ultimately become,” he added. “A select few cadets in the academy carried themselves with a certain swagger, a vibe that said they were sure they’d make it through,” Cavalier said. “They didn’t have any doubts.”

18 times with a flashlight, leaving him with a broken jaw, three broken ribs, a broken wrist and a gash to the head. Brown then mislabeled his body camera footage in what investigators concluded was “an intentional attempt to hide the video.”

I'd have to guess that several of them also come from a long line of generational inbreeding.

DUH

You don’t say.

Another race bait article by the AP to create more division. Let me guess, the solution is no white cops in black neighborhoods? Isn’t that segregation? Both sides have valid points but fostering hatred makes the AP the enemy of both sides. AP holding the match, screaming fire.

While I’m glad that this is being reported on, I’m also like what are the next steps? The LouisianaGov lalegis and LAStatePolice care more so for the illusion of law and order.

What a surprise

Naw, I just don’t believe it! Fake news! 😂

Shocking!!! I'm sure they are also against the vaccine even though tons of cops have died from covid

ACAB

Nothing new!

Haha 'some cases'

'Some cases'

Seems unlikely. Sounds like a bunch of upset ex or soon to be ex-employees who are looking for 15 minutes of fame

Corruption in Louisiana? What sorcery is this?

99.9% of racism & bigotry comes from the Left.

'We don't do our job': The head of the Louisiana State Police acknowledges.

Yeah, authority without accountability will turn out the same way; people will actively seek out those positions and create more havoc than you can meaningfully deal with. Governments, corporations and law enforcement can’t keep using the law as a shield for their greedy and hate

Please. What a joke.

What? Cops using excessive force? Color me shocked

Police? More like violent fascist authoritarians?😛

for nearly a century, the media and Hollywood have glamorized policing as a place for cracking skulls and engaging in fantasy gunplay without consequence. It's no wonder it is rife with this sort of violence and corruption. ReformThePolice

Anyone else notice the cop too fat to stand at parade rest correctly?

the confederate bias remains.........

Useless lot!

Went to Mardi Gras. Cop on horseback backed up and the horse stepped on a woman who fell. Her boyfriend (white) yelled at the cop that his horse was ON his girlfriend and to move. He lightly slapped the horses butt. Cops arrested the boyfriend and left the woman on the ground.

I have been to 48 of the 50 states- Louisiana and Mississippi being the sole exceptions. That won’t be changing any time soon.

the confederate bias remains...........

Sounds like the Democratic Party

Brown Bob Brown, part of the state police’s top brass was overheard in the office commiserating with colleagues over the results of a state police promotional exam. “I don’t understand how those ‘N's’ could pass this test,” Brown was quoted as saying “They’re not smarter than us'

Louisiana should no longer be a tourist destination, hitting them in the wallet is the only thing they understand. Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence and everything else should be boycotted until sweeping reforms are true change is put into place.

Communicating Emotions Across CulturesOur facial expressions can help us communicate with other cultures, but sometimes what we think we're communicating is quite different from what they may be understanding and also people who get Botox have a harder time understanding others emotions because their faces can’t mimic the expressions they’re seeing. This is really interesting. I wonder what effects facial expression in cinema can have cross-culturally? Or how cinematic depictions of emotion through facial expressions are perceived by those of other cultures? And how it may help or hinder a movie’s success? So true. Living with Inupiat people my new facial expressions are not universal.
