With violent crime growing, residents of Atlanta’s wealthy Buckhead neighborhood don’t just want more police. They want to secede.

ATLANTA—An increase in violent crime has spurred a movement in Atlanta’s wealthiest and whitest neighborhood, Buckhead, to push harder to secede and create a new city with its own police force. The idea, which has been gaining momentum over the past year, is raising alarm among Atlanta officials worried about a loss of population and tax revenue.

“They really don’t care about Buckhead,” Mr. White, said about city officials. “They just want the money.” Jim Durrett, president of the Buckhead Coalition that opposes secession, said establishing services and taxes in a new city would be more difficult than proponents claim. Jim Durrett, president and chief executive of the Buckhead Coalition, a group of community and business leaders that opposes secession, said establishing services and taxes in a new city would be more difficult than proponents claim. He also said the loss of residents and tax revenue would severely damage what remains of Atlanta.

Mr. Dickens, a Democrat whose post is nonpartisan, last week held a press conference outside a new police office under construction in Buckhead and promised more officers for the area. Annexed to Atlanta in 1952, Buckhead has long been known as a hub of restaurants, bars and clubs and is home to large estates. The Georgia governor’s mansion is in Buckhead.

The good part of these lib policies is that their failures are there for everyone to see. Normally the pols failure is behind the scenes, not the case with these terrible policies.

They want to make a sundown district?

Succession is what happened to most of the Major cities in America. That is a MAJOR GOP agenda. Paying far more to live in Whiteville, Whitey doesn't want those they believe caused them to flee, to move in & create the same conditions they left for. They blame minorities.

The rich always want to do that and it shows. America is headed to the toilet with a small rich enclaves surrounded by their slaves

you mean to tell me there’s a price for the idiotic, highly ideological public policy of many big cities? i absolutely hate to see it :(

Why are 52 Senators so obedient to Republican leader McConnell? What are they afraid of? Maybe they need to keep a tight hold on power, control because they have secrets to protect? Why else would they vote against fair laws that weed out corruption, dark money?

Segregation now and forever
