Even if an officer has reasonable suspicion to detain you, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CONSENT TO A SEARCH. And the officer still needs reasonable, articulable suspicion to search only for weapons. A search that goes beyond a search for weapons, if no consent is given, could be illegal.
