Elijah Dormeus was a May 2019 graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. At Dormeus' graduation ceremony earlier this year, the school's commencement speaker, the billionaire Robert F. Smith, famously announced that he would be paying off the student loans of everyone in the graduating class. Dormeus, who came from humble beginnings, had student loan debt of $94,000 at the time of the announcement.
