In most states, poll workers are trained on their job duties before election day, but the exact training material varies from place to place. Ask for visual references and practice working with voting equipment if you're given the opportunity to do so.
If you don't understand the material, make sure to ask. Don't assume you can wing it on Election Day. It's a nationwide presidential election in the middle of a pandemic, not a statistics quiz.On Election Day Don't forget to bring snacks and wear comfortable clothes and shoes, says Albert at Common Cause. You'll also want to bring a charger or battery backup for your phone.
This year, states and cities will usually supply PPE for poll workers — but, as always, bringing your own mask and taking COVID-19 precautions is a good idea, to keep people around you safe and healthy. We'd love to hear from you. Leave us a voicemail at 202-216-9823, or email us at
I asked about signing up and was told that the only option was a 15 hour shift, 6 am to 9 pm, no partial days. Can someone explain to me why they wouldn’t break this into (at least) 2 shifts? Because with those hours, it’s no wonder they have a shortage of workers.
I signed up and have taken the first on line training classes. I’m scheduled to work 4 days in Sacramento County!
I am in Seattle, Washington. We vote by mail. Which given the current state of our postal service my ballot should be counted by February.
I’ve voted for fifty years and never had a candidate try to intimidate voters until Trump and his cult .
Oh no!!! There is a shortage of poll workers. Vote by mail everyone!!
I’ll pack a sleeping bag and... snacks
It’s a waste of time to vote anyway.
Call up the National Guard in each state. Not a hard call.
Who cares, everything is fake around voting in the USA. It begins with the constitution that benefits small population states(slave owners rights). Voter repression (why does not everyone get a votingbill like in real democracy? ). And the money, why can you buy votes.sicksystem
MissMiniver This website is abysmal. If they want young people to sign up, an absolute prerequisite is having a website that works on mobile devices. Voting promotion should be AHEAD of the game on modern tech, not behind. The website is horrible. Hire a 14 year old to fix it.
Can’t Governors use National Guard to staff election sites? What’s more appropriate for helping preserve American democracy? Isn’t National Guard supposed to help America when it needs help? They can be dressed in plain clothes. EllenLWeintraub NationalGuard NationalGuardNY
Old Navy & Target (+others) have offered paid time off to poll workers!
Sounds about right. Easy to have Twitter fits: 'OMG! They're going to steal the election and ruin everything forever!' Heaven forbid giving up a day out of their so-important-little-lives to do something *literally* helpful.
Of you are healthy please sign up
How could you possibly be monitored in a set-up like that?
Wow that is so cool and plus that is on my birthday when I turn 19 years old but right now I'm only 18 years old 😅
I’m going to apply. Wish my luck
Be heard the 3rd.
