In most states, poll workers are trained on their job duties before election day, but the exact training material varies from place to place. Ask for visual references and practice working with voting equipment if you're given the opportunity to do so.

I asked about signing up and was told that the only option was a 15 hour shift, 6 am to 9 pm, no partial days. Can someone explain to me why they wouldn’t break this into (at least) 2 shifts? Because with those hours, it’s no wonder they have a shortage of workers.
