is a repeat customer, or so the saying goes. But how can a business keep clients satisfied? The answer, according to a recent study, is to treat employees well. Glassdoor, a website which let workers assess employers, looked back over the records of 293 companies across 13 industries between 2008 and 2018. It then studied the link between employee satisfaction, based on its own ratings, and the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a benchmark gauge of shoppers’ sentiment.
A one-point improvement in Glassdoor’s rating translated into a statistically significant 1.3-point increase in customer satisfaction . As might be expected, the link was strongest in industries where workers have the most direct contact with customers, such as retail, restaurants and tourism. In such trades, a one-point gain in employee satisfaction rating raised that of customers by 3.2 points .

Can I give you my employer's handle so he can see this?I can't tag him
I’m sorry, that correlation is quite weak on all four of the charts. Picking stats to support a thesis.
But that's not what the CFOs were taught at the Scrooge McDuck School of Business, so the beatings will continue until the wage slaves collapse.
DaniDur Sempre detto e anche testato in prima persona.
Employees are interfaces. Treat employees well shapes a joyful environment. That environment shapes a psychological culture that appears in employees' deployment towards customers, their happiness becomes a sort of magnet that positively affects customers.
How profound
Unnecessary information. Client Satisfaction will depend upon product or service expected delivery. Simple like that.
That’s true, but not many boss care about this
Isn’t that common sense? These studies are so silly
With corporatism it doesnt matter about happy customers what matters is happy politicians that will stack regulations on your favor.

It's surprising that the relationship is inverse in the oil and gas sector. Treat your staff worse in order to get more satisfied customers? 🤔

alllibertynews Duh. Why can’t greedy shareholders and CEOs see that? It’s basic ECON.
There are some great articles on this subject for example by Carador, T. & Pratt, M. (2018). Many people are saying ‘duh’ but there are still some anomalies out there that need to be researched.
Can't be over emphasized
Duh.
True that! A disgruntled employee care less about his employer let alone the customer who is not directly responsible for his/her wages.

How about Amazon
It's a nice sentiment, but correlation does not imply causation, and you ought to know better. This is data journalism at its weakest.
richardbranson
Another one of those studies that I could've done for less than the cost. Why can't I get paid for this? If one is happy w/their vocation(positive effort/production), one's customers will be happy. DOH!
studysuggests So... miserable gits behind the counter make the experience less happy? Who knew?
Do we really need a study to tell us this?
Undoubtedly essential
I always look at the front staff when I deal with any company: rude staff; inevitability rude management right up to board level...

That's why I want to destroy this customer society of Hedonism and Alienation, to restore the Old Order that once preceded the cursed Enlightenment.

Hotels leaving an MMJ mint on the pillow with turndown on request and airlines offering edibles instead of alcohol might inspire some customers loyalty.
