Twitter is “similar to New York City,” says the Washington Post columnist TaylorLorenz, in that “the people who spend time there often actively hate it, but refuse to leave.”

. A consummate troll, Musk also seems to be amusing himself with the acquisition. “Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in,” he tweeted, not long ago.e-mailed some people to find out how they are thinking about Twitter these days. What had the platform taught them? How should it change? The novelistidentified one of the network’s most appealing qualities: “it’s a text based social app ultimately, and so it’s perfect for readers and writers.

” Even as users are “trauma bonded by collectively suffering through years of bad moderation decisions and regular onslaughts of harassment,”she wrote, Twitter remains “the single most effective real time news platform and the one social media app about ideas rather than aesthetics. . . . It desperately needs to evolve, but whatever sanitized and undeniably better app replaces it will probably never be the same.

TaylorLorenz I left NYC once I realized which Party was behind Slavery.

TaylorLorenz Favourite place on earth (NYC not Twitter)

TaylorLorenz I've noticed very little change in my Twitter experience since Elon took over. I access Twitter only on the web (no apps). I follow a curated list of people, ignoring the 'For You' & 'Trending' options. I use an ad blocker. Just food for thought.

LugubriousLarry TaylorLorenz True. Though for me I would leave. I really do think that there needs to be more than ONE fast social news outlet similar to Twitter. It's wrong to rely on one that is also owned by one person , who has to much control ( already) . Dangerous.

TaylorLorenz The good people of the city, the nice fun people are dying. 💀👽🥸

TaylorLorenz Not true here! I do not hate Twitter…🤔

TaylorLorenz Nah we just hate trash takes

Kate Bush is a very special talent.

look at my boobs😘

TaylorLorenz It’s a good thing Fran Lebowitz doesn’t have a Twitter cuz she’d light this take on fire.

ham_hox TaylorLorenz This is the first thing I’ve agreed with her on.

TaylorLorenz NYC is filled with trash, rats, roaches, and out of town yuppies who drive up the price of rent too high.

TaylorLorenz People don't really hate it, it's just a fashionable thing to say

TaylorLorenz I don’t buy it. People do what they want to do. I stay away from things I actively hate. Facebook for instance. Quit years ago, have not once missed it. Folks get something from Twitter or they’d do the same.

TaylorLorenz 😂😂😂 so TaylorLorenz should leave Twitter and let us enjoy this social network...

TaylorLorenz 1. Keep the orange fascist verboten! 2. R&D to purge the bots 3. Let me to call Ted Cruz an Ass-🕳🕳🕳🕳, without being sent to the penalty box (because it is a fact)! 4. Stop bothering me with “clickbait.”

TaylorLorenz I’ve Tweeted a long time; even occasionally enjoyed the clash of incomplete & half-baked ideas. But if DJT does somehow return, I’ll be gone in seconds. Of course I could and would block him, but the lies of that creep leave the unbearable stench of moral decay. And I’d be gone.

TaylorLorenz what if, instead of radically changing twitter, y'all try using other networks that don't get attention for who is using it or trying to buy/not buy it. We have a suggestion. & before you say 'nobody uses those other networks', keep in mind twtr wasn't born w/ even 100k users.

TaylorLorenz That old goat sucks at life

TaylorLorenz Said the columnist who doxx people with opposing political views on Twitter.

TaylorLorenz It’s an amazing phenomenon, but pretty sure she’s an asset because of her awful worldview. She’s shooting 0% from the free throw line but it’s why everyone reads her shit.

TaylorLorenz I spend time on Twitter because I love it. Who would spend time on something they hate?

TaylorLorenz Twitter is like Taylor Lorenz, full of shit and lies!

TaylorLorenz She doesn't know either the people or the Twitter.

TaylorLorenz I’m from NYC and work at Twitter so I’m trying to honestly process how I feel about this take. I think at the heart of it, I feel like a certain kind of person can make it work (& even thrive) in each of these places—but not everyone can. And that’s ok, but it’s the truth.

NeinQuarterly TaylorLorenz This is a good comparison.

NeinQuarterly TaylorLorenz Been here 22 years, used to love it. Fucking hate it now

TaylorLorenz 2. There shouldnt be any redlining in twitter, but there is.

TaylorLorenz I think it should become a library and better than Wiki with thoughts from not just experts but from every thoughtful person on this planet.

TaylorLorenz Well, that's because we all suffer the borderline disorder

yashar TaylorLorenz Deal with feminist misandry!!!!

yashar TaylorLorenz I love New York

TaylorLorenz I don't hate Twitter but some of the accounts spread filth and lies. Fortunately for me, my client filters most of the shit out.

TaylorLorenz

TaylorLorenz Easy for trust fund kids like Taylor to define what nyc is. Because their privilege allows them to do that. I think most people who live in nyc find people like Taylor to be obnoxious. Anyone who has worked in a restaurant in nyc has dealt with a Taylor.

TaylorLorenz I love this city and I refuse to leave. People that hate it are consumers rather than participants and probably on their way somewhere else.

TaylorLorenz That is actually a great analogy. Clown on her all you want, but she’s clever and entertaining and we need more of that on the left, as most of our shitposters decided that they wanted to use wojak memes and dogpile on feminist lit majors.
