component involves being open to whatever comes up in one’s mind, regardless of whether it is pleasant or disagreeable.
First, we conducted a meta-analysis, which is a process that statistically combines multiple studies on a topic. Our meta-analysis focused on a common measure of mindfulness to see if the awareness and acceptance components would be related to each other in three different samples: an expert sample, a clinical sample, and a sample of everyday folks. We found that the two components were positively associated with each other in the first two samples.
Although the results were not unambiguous, we found that the awareness component of mindfulness was positively associated with wise reasoning and cognitive reappraisal. Still, the acceptance component was negatively associated with these outcomes. Also, the acceptance component was positively associated with suppression.
jamiegruman Mindfulness is about becoming more aware and present in the moment 😌
jamiegruman Mindfulness works as a stress reducer. What is that page being run by fools?
jamiegruman 5/ The most 'mindful' thing you can do with a negative emotion. Take it from a 12 year emotional researcher with PTSD, who does this on a daily basis to process his emotions, when 20 years of various meditations... failed.
jamiegruman 4/ Emotional processing is NOT a Mindfulness technique or meditation...it is a realization process, and not affirmations, or 'convincing oneself' it was actually something else. It is realization of 'what that is...' 'AS it is'... 'That is SADNESS'... that is realization...
jamiegruman 3/ Mindfulness should be about being COGNIZANT of what one is doing, and DISCERN what is going on in the reality, the situation. Emotional PROCESSING is about being cognizant of 'that' emotion, and realization of it as an emotional charge, and doing the technique on it...
jamiegruman 2/ With the emotional technique I discovered, 'acceptance' is not necessary to the technique, in FACT, we REJECT the negative emotion by processing that emotion to STOP IT, and keep it from bothering us. This is especially valuable in PTSD, where everything bothers a person...
jamiegruman 1/ 'Acceptance of whatever comes to mind' is also a misconception...as it is NOT always MINDFUL to accept whatever comes to mind... one must DISCERN what is coming to mind, not just 'accept' it... DISCERN what is 'disagreeable'. And mindfully DISCOUNT IT.
