As the remarkable true story is depicted in Big George Foreman, financial circumstances led the heavyweight back to the ring in 1987. After 10 years away from boxing, expectations for the former champion were low. However, Foreman's success against opponents much younger than him was a big part of what makes his story so impressive.

Foreman went on to have an entire second professional boxing career. After several years of fighting his way back up through the ranks, he challenged for the IBF and WBA heavyweight titles in 1994. As shown in Big George Foreman, he defeated Michael Moorer, becoming the oldest fighter to ever win a world championship at age 45. Twenty years after losing to Muhammad Ali, Foreman regained the title he'd lost.
