“It was a mindfuck in my personal and professional life,” Raisa admits about playing someone 10 years younger than her. “Because professionally, I hadn’t aged. I was playing the same age. But personally, I was getting older. And so when quarantine happened, honestly it was the first time I really got to live my life as a 30-year-old. I really got to learn myself.
“When I first got cast, I remember Chris saying, ‘They were really going crazy trying to find Valentina–they were trying to find you before me. I think you’re the Barney of this series.’ And I was like, ‘Don’t say that, that’s a lot of pressure!’ Suraj [Sharma] said the same thing, like, ‘I think you’re Barney.’ Those are big shoes to fill,” Raisa says. “And I did feel that way at first, but then I was like, [Valentina] is in a relationship, which is different.
