But 178 unvaccinated employees who did not get religious or medical exemptions were suspended without pay, including 27 who are only partly vaccinated.June 9, 202104:02"We won't have the final numbers for two weeks as employees can still get vaccinated with their second dose or with the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine," Boom's statement said."I wish the number could be zero, but unfortunately, a small number of individuals have decided not to put their patients first."

There are 285 unvaccinated employees who received medical or religious exemptions and 332 more who were granted deferrals.Boom said that he understood that it was a"very difficult decision" for some employees to be vaccinated but that they did the right thing to protect"our patients, your colleagues, your families, and our community." headtopics.com

"The science proves that the vaccines are not only safe, but necessary if we are going to turn the corner against COVID-19," Boom said."The mRNA technology behind the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines isn't new or experimental. It's been around for many years."

Amanda Rivera, an emergency room nurse, toldNBC affiliate KPRCthat she is one of the suspended employees and faces termination if she refuses to comply."I feel like they kind of bullied us into this little corner, like you have to do it or you don't have a job. This is my only source of income," Rivera said.

June 9, 202103:31A lawsuit filed against the hospital at the end of May by 117 employees argued that Covid-19 vaccines were"experimental" and that Houston Methodist could not force an employee"to accept an FDA unapproved vaccine on penalty of termination or other sanctions."

"None of the currently available experimental vaccines for COVID-19 has received final approval from the FDA," the lawsuit says.Three Covid-19 vaccines — manufactured by Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson — have received emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two shots a few weeks apart, while the Johnson & Johnson is a single inoculation. headtopics.com

Jared Woodfill, the attorney who filed the lawsuit in Montgomery County, said he intends to file with the state court. Woodfill maintained that the hospital violated the law by requiring employees to take a vaccine that has not received full approval and that his clients are threatened with termination after the suspensions.

"Essentially, Dr. Boom is requiring my clients to serve as human guinea pigs, and if they're not, they're taken to the door. ... There's no choice. It's all about coercion, all about pressure," Woodfill said.Woodfill said the idea of Covid-19 vaccination mandates is"a question that needs to be answered not just for my clients, but for hospitals and employers everywhere." He accused Boom of putting profits over people to brand the hospital as the first to mandate vaccinations for its employees.

"It's clearly about the bottom line but not about the people who put their lives on the line," Woodfill said."This is how they're repaid, with a pink slip." Read more: MSNBC »

Good Good for the Hospital! Do not rehire these folks ever! Face masks, social distancing and getting vaccinated work to end Covid - Shame on those former employees. they put others at risk not to mention themselves! When being in a “ right to work” state bites you in your ass.🤣 All healthcare workers need to be vaccinated. If these workers don't want to get vaccinated which has been proven safe and effective, then they should lose their jobs. Don't be a COVIDIOT . I hear restaurants and stores have lots of openings. GetVaccinated

Now we will see how they really think about the federal unemployment that they now won’t get thanks to their great governor! Good for those employees !!! Work somewhere else!!!!!!!! They have no say over your body!!! Unfortunate for the hospital that now has to work short-staffed. But it's warranted. Why take the risk of staff being able to spread a virus to patients? Sure the 178 can say 'my choice', but it now affects their fellow coworkers by increasing their workload.

Refusing vaccination when working in a building with actual sick people, is stupid beyond comprehension They all, including others who refuse the vaccine, should be rounded up and sent to Guantanamo until they achieve some sense of responsibility. They can start new hospitals where no one is vaccinated and they never wear masks 👍🏻

Nuremberg Nazi trials outlawed forcing people to be experimented on. Too bad, so sad 😊 First of all you work in health care so this should be a no brainer. HOWEVER..... Welcome to Texas, a right to work State. If the State of Texas decides to get involved they will be opening up a HUGE can of worms for themselves.

Good. If you don’t care about the health of others then why are you in health care. Good riddance. 🤨 Good. Find a new job if you can't abide by the rules Own It’s everyone’s choice to be vaccinated if it’s forced on them they have a right to quit. when you need them they won’t be there. Like I told my daughter yesterday her family refuses to be vaccinatedI refuse to take care of her family if they get sick. I’m a retired FF Medic.

Good! they pose a risk to the vulnerable patients that cannot wear masks or get the shot! Americans against vaccinations should grow up and stop being selfish, only thinking about themselves! The shots aren't a cure, but they do prevent infection, and that is a blessing from God! You forgot to mention the lawsuit

Don’t staff involved in surgery already have to be vaccinated against hepatitis? WHY DO YOU HAVE TO FORCE THOSE IDIOTS TO VACCINATE. THEIR INSURANCE WILL PAY THEIR FUNERAL IF THEY DIE. DONATE THOSE VACCINES TO THE THIRD WORLD! I see no issue. Im sure they have them ample notice that failure to be fully vaccinated would result in this. Those staff could have chosen to take jobs elsewhere. Let’s not act like hospital staff can’t find jobs rights now. The hospital made a choice and the staff did as well

Democrats Panic As Republicans Celebrate Mayoral Win In McAllen Texas That Is 85% Latino: ‘We’re In Big Trouble’🔥👌👍 GregAbbott_TX 🇺🇸 These hospital workers should find a new profession. If they don’t believe in the vaccination they need to do something else. Unconscionable that these selfish employees would allow themselves to be near sick patients —sometimes cancer patients with compromised immune systems—because of their crazy indoctrination by RW media. I say fire these morons. This is a safety issue.

Good Now 178 can apply for those jobs?🤔 Does anyone remember when we were told that virus couldn't have been started in a lab? Yeah we can't have those unvaccinated medical professionals around unvaccinated patients God forbid

Covid-19: GCSE and A-level grades appeal guidance issuedPupils will be able to appeal results if they think an 'unreasonable academic judgement' was made.

'None of the currently available experimental vaccines for COVID-19 has received final approval from the FDA,' the lawsuit says.' Correct. No forced vaccines=no forced paychecks. You just helped the unemployment figures for TX, so thanks for that. Another 178 people who need a job will get one. So these people worked in 👉🏿a hospital 👈🏿 w/o the vaccine...during the entire pandemic...and being terminated by HR but not the virus?

I don't believe they should be made to take the vaccine as a condition of employment! Don't blame those peoples. That is being forced against their will. This supposed to be a free country. BUT NOW A IDIOT AND IGNORANCE FOR A GOVERNMENT. Come to Ky plenty of work for Americans. What exactly is the reason other than big pharmaceuticals companies greed that the government N big corporations demand that the American people get injected with experimental COVID vaccines? Thousands experience bad side effects N hundreds more have died from Pfizer N Moderna.

They should fire their dumb behinds these stupids are dangrouse to other people's well-being Have you considered injecting disinfectant or inserting light into your body, apparently it works a treat. Bravo

Wish all healthcare facilities would do this! Overdue. FIRE. THEM. ALL. Good. Hospital patients shouldnt have to fear dying from a virus transmitted by science denying hospital staff. The government can not make us take it I refuse to after all the bad things have happened to people after taking it fts They can get another job. If that’s the hospital policy it is what it is

No one should be forced to take a vaccine. Sue. those a holes Welp, they were required to get all their other shots to work there. What the hell did they think? Good

Washington State Approves 'Joints For Jabs' COVID-19 Vaccine PromotionThe Evergreen State is allowing cannabis retailers to offer a free joint to people getting their coronavirus shot in an effort to increase vaccinations. wow Not how carrots and sticks was meant to work. Ohhhma

Trying to understand this logic after what they’ve seen… 🥴😢 Good. No one in a hospital should be unvaccinated We are a nation of laws, not mandates. Good. Good. Medical staff refusing the vaccine. WTF If you have the “right” not to be vaccinated, then a store owner should have the right to refuse you entry to their store.

Good, I hope they all do it Good. People who don’t get the vaccine are dirty and should be ostracized for holding us back. I wish my employer would do the same. We’re required to take the flu shot yearly, why not covid? Good. This crap has to stop. Good for you Houston hospital. I don't want a nurse who hasn't been vaccinated.

Good for the business. You know better and if you don't care for yourself. Old people living in those hospitals so find a trump hospital work there and kill everybody in there. On you. Good Let the labor free markets work GOP ormis this some exception for you? Please allow the 178 of 25,000 employees look for work elsewhere. This is still America. In our capitalist system, business make the rules and employees decide where they want to work.
