An ultrasound technologist who says she was fired by a Houston hospital because she wouldn't get vaccinated against the coronavirus says, 'I don't want to work for people like that. Don't take away my choice.'

Spring, Texas An ultrasound technologist who says she was fired by a Houston hospital because she wouldn't get vaccinated against the coronavirus told CNN on Wednesday,"I don't want to work for people like that. Don't take away my choice."

LaTricia Blank worked at Houston Methodist hospital for eight and a half years. She loved her job, her patients and the people she worked with, she said. But Houston Methodist on March 31 became the first major health care system in the country to mandate Covid-19 vaccinations. More than 100 employees sued but a judge recently sided with the hospital system. The employees have appealed the judge's decision.

She can chose not to work there.

Stupid is what stupid does! Good luck finding a job ANYWHERE!

Salute her💪💪

So you are working in a hospital where there are people with immune deficiency and you think it is your right to possibly expose them , you need to find a different job. !!!

Go for it, girl. It is your choice to be unemployed

Is because of her choice that she was fired. All choices have consequences.

Well dont be selfish and think others

Bulls hi, you’ll kill people. THAT is not a ‘choice’

Well, that's what happens in a Right to Work state.

I’m a retired RN. Why are you giving anti vaxxers air? We get it, there are a lot of Not Very Bright people working in healthcare, from administrators, to doctors, nurses, technicians, etc. Quit making antivaxxers a cause. It’s stupidity, plain & simple. And you’re promoting it.

Please provide me list of all states that don’t require health care workers to be vaccinated. I’m trying to make a list of places to never visit

A serial killer who says he was fired by a Houston hospital because he wouldn't stop killing patients says, 'I don't want to work for people like that. Don't take away my choice.'

Go work somewhere else or be jobless!

She works in the healthcare industry with people in poor health fer crissakes. Anyone in that job SHOULD be required to be vax’d. So quit yer winin leddy.

You know I have never been happy about someone getting fired. Well until now I'm happy maybe joyful they got fired.

I don't want to risk being around d people like you

She should not be working in healthcare or with the public. She thinks it's her right to be irresponsible with other people's welfare.

Wow, just wow.

Having a job is an exchange. Company guidelines don’t have wiggle room because they protect the company. And sometimes a company’s rules don’t line up with a personal choice. I then make a decision if I need to change companies.

I would not like to be tested by a nurse or doctor who has not been vaccinated !! This would be my choice .. think about other major infections where we had to immunise to protect others I do agree if she does want to be in the healthcare then should advise by vaccination rule

Does she have a choice to stop or not at a red light? She certainly does but her choice will have consequences!

I wouldn’t fire her but obligate her to wear full safety gears when in the facility. She keeps her choice and we all happy 😃

Last I checked, this was still a free country. Communist News Network

Good riddance

;;..

….. you mean your choice to possibly make others ill or even worse cause their death ?….. smh vehemently….

If you work in the medical field you should be a courteous enough human to be vaccinated or you shouldn't work there.

You're working with the public and their health. The unsuspecting pubic does not need this walking Sword of Damocles hanging over their head. Seriously? Good to see common sense rearing its head in my home Texas. stop make this foolishness newsworthy.

Impressively fair wording in this article, CNN

How dare you think you still have a choice! The Government says jump and you simply reply how high?

You Shouldn't Work for People Paying You because of Rules & Regulations. Medical Services are to Actually Protect the Patients. Too Bad there isn't a Vaccine for Ignorance 🤔

You made your choice to keep tha pandemic going by refusing the vaccine and using your position as a medical professional to incite anti-vaccination rhetoric to the community. TX is 40% vaccinated and more Americans will die because of incompetent advice.

Freedom to possibly infect others? Freedom is only to the point where you dont harm others. Or get tested every single day before work.

You're free to go :)

You’re in a hospital full of people who are sick and immuno compromised. It’s about doing the right thing.

If she doesn’t believe science she shouldn’t work in the medical field! Patients deserve medical professionals who trust science, are not a danger to them, and are competent. Her bad choices tell me she’s unfit for the medical field,.

Good for her

The report refers to the Duhamel case that made news in France in January. The accused in that case admitted guilt but escaped due to the statute of limitations.

They didn’t take away your choice. You made it.

Good bye get a different job . I want my ultra sound person vaccinated

Common sense Nurse Lady. You working in clinics or Hospitals and the moment you start your work, it’s no longer about you, it’s about Patients well being & knowing they are in a safe environment.

Are any other vaccines required for her employment?

Psycho.

Boo Hoo! Good job Houston Methodist!

Yeah I don’t take away her choice to get others with weak immune system sick

Working in Healthcare means that you are required to be fully vaccinated against diseases to protect yourself and the patients you deal with. Its part of your employment contract.

I believe people work in the hospitals firstly have a duty to protect themselves and the patients. So, they have to be vaccinated. Not to be vaccinated in her case is not a choice, it is ignorance and irresponsability.

I would have thought she would have wanted to to protect her patients

I wouldn’t let her come near me to do an ultrasound for two reasons. First, she is not vaccinated and second I don’t trust her because I am not sure if she knows what she is doing as it doesn’t look like she learnt anything in her science classes.

Funny how most people didn’t have a problem getting vaccinated for the measles, mumps, rubella, etc. Yet now getting vaccinated is about choice, since the FG and the right have managed to politicize it.

Why profile her..?

Your choice wasn't taken away!! You made your choice and the Hospital made it's choice. You are not a VICTIM!!! Consequences is what you're mad about... Just say that💙

You made a choice and they made a choice to fire you. You're in an at-will state. You have no power.

Fk her! Fire her ass. Get vaccinated.

She was fired because of public safety and hospitals have a duty of care to their patients, clearly by not getting vaccinated she chose her own ideology over those she was hired to protect

Hospital acquired covid is expensive and hard to treat. I got vaccinated and my hospital doesn't even require it. I take care of sick people. Cancer patients have almost zero immune system and they don't deserve to die from covid if they dont have to.

And they don't want to have people like that work for them. Good choice in their part. (You can't fix stupid.)

Your choice puts people at risk. You don’t deserve to be around patients.

Bye bye I don’t want the services of a hospital whose staff don’t believe in science.

You are in the wrong field if u don’t care about patients well being. U should loose your job.

Years ago, my friend was fired from her new job at a children’s hospital because she couldn’t complete their vaccinate requirements. (She has an auto immune disease and her dr recommended not getting 1 of them.). She understood.

Good - She should be fired

She loved the patients and the people she worked with, but just not enough to protect them from a virus that has killed over 600k Americans. I would not want her looking after me.

Lady, you are in the wrong field. I'm sure you had other requirements before working in the medical field (TB Test, Hepatitis test...the list goes on)...did you refuse those requirements as well?

Texas. 😕

Well go have your choice at home.

She has a choice to work somewhere else. Why is giving these whiners a platform?

Nobody took away her choice. She made it.

Good riddance

Nobody is forcing her to work there. Get another damn job. That’s her choice. An absolutely stupid argument on her part Plus, you don’t want anti science people working at a hospital of all places anyway.

People working on health systems should have the vaccines-all known. For their safety and those they care for. They have the right to refuse a vaccine but they cannot have it both ways. They cannot put safety and health of sick people in jeopardy for their own selfish reasons.

Man that's crazy that her personal opinion would be life-threatening to someone else's and she being in the healthcare field . I tell my friends from my neighborhood all the time, just because you're seeing them in the nice Car and a nice house doesn't mean they're smart

At this point if a person refuses to get a covid-19 vaccine but later on gets the disease their insurance company should not pay for their hospital care.

Her choice. You work in a hospital around people with compromised immune systems, they’re right to require the vaccine.

Is it a surgeon's 'right' to choose not to wash his hands or wear gloves and mask during a surgery? Don't they take an oath? Doesn't she have to test for TB and keep current on vaccines? If she doesn't trust it yet, that's ok, but there are a few jobs she definitely can't do then

Don’t take away the hospital’s choice to hire someone who is vaccinated who cares for patients and others who works in the hospital.

Don’t take away their choice either. Buy the hospital.

Wait, aren’t you a Republican?!?!?

Don’t take away your pregnant patients choice to have a safe pregnancy. It’s not all about YOU. Pregnant women are at higher risk of Covid.

They didn’t take away your choice. You chose to not get vaccinated.

You cannot put others at risk unfortunately so you find a new job where you don’t

Excellent since she should not be putting her pregnant patients at unnecessary risks!

Let’s think about abortion like that. A vaccine will only save your life and maybe others too.

in my line of work you get fired when you dont wash your hands! 😂 anti vac people are nuts lol all about them.

Vaccines are not as effective for me because of an autoimmune. If I need an ultrasound, I have a right to expect that the tech is doing everything possible to keep me safe. It's not about your choice, it's about your responsibility as a medical provider.

Good riddance germy

Thank you Methodist 👏👏

See how easy that was? You’re not working for them anymore. Congrats!

But she is not Pro Choice probably…

I live in Katy & my doc is with Methodist West. I'm glad you no longer work there bcuz neither I nor my family would want you to perform an ultrasound on us. Go infect someone else somewhere else. Thanks

Fire her ass.......she doesn't have the right to get people 😷!

Don't they ever get tire of being stupid?🤦‍♀️

And she should not be allowed to work where lives are so fragile and the possibility that she spreads it to a patient? Get the shot or get in another line of work. Science is real and perhaps she should think about that

Take them to Civil Court. I think you can win. There are many articles out there of people having adverse serious reactions and even death. I have them all. Sure do. REM the OR tech who was forced to take it and died. Caused an auto immune response.

I side with the hospital!

1 killer in hospitals is infection not a virus that you have a 99% chance of surviving unless your elderly or have co morbidities. By all means put an experimental drug in your body. I won’t get it, and be damned if someone tries to force my child to. Stay sheepy there people

No one took her choice. She CLEARLY made her choice and the subsequent consequence happened.

Seriously, how selfish is that? If medical workers don’t want to get vaccinated, they can go work in a different field. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. That’s how it works. SelfishCovidTales

Pandemic = covid roulette or vaccine, no other alternatives.

Many hospitals require certain vaccines prior to hiring. Like hepatitis B. They also require TB testing. These are the same people who probably bitched and complained about having to wear a mask and how trump was going to get us a vaccine - and now that trumps not in office its ?

She is taking away a potential patient’s choice to stay safe from COVID.

Oh. Then I guess you’ll be looking for a stay at home job.

Oh well .

I worked at a hospital in IT and vaccines were mandatory for patient safety. If you do not care about patient safety you should find another line of work.

Maybe she needs to do something less grounded in reality. Perhaps she can do palm reading.

I want to drive 100 mph through your neighborhood. Is that my choice? Or maybe should that be regulated to protect everyone?

You work in healthcare but refuse the vaccine? Idiot, you chose the wrong career, the vax is about protecting other people and you, in that profession you don't have your selfish choice!

Bye

You dont get to choose to be a health hazard where you work.

Yet she doesn't have a choice about abortion of her body according to her lovely republican representatives in Texas. The oxymoron views of some people. Your in Healthcare get Vax! That's what professional do who work in close contact with infectious virus.

The vaccine does not prevent transmission. The hospital has a right to prevent liable should this employee get infected on the job and dies from complication.

Yeah, you can choose to keep your job if you also choose to comply. Those the rules.

Oh well. Your rights don’t supersede the rights of the sick.

Wow. An ultrasound tech taking a stance on “choice”. Curious to know if she’s pro-choice and supports reproductive choice. choice prochoice reproductivechoice

If she US technologist it means a lot of patients she see are pregnant women so how can she work in hospital, think about your patients if you don’t give a fu*k about yourself

As a nurse she has a legal obligation to safeguard the well being of the public. If she refuse vaccine she is a threat to the health of her patients. Suits her right to get fired

Dear LaTricia Blank, we, the potential patients of Houston Methodist are grateful that you are not working there. I don't want anyone working on me who doesn't care enough about the science and her patients to get vaccinated.

She chose to be fired.

Medical doctors of any form take an oath this does not mean you are exempt taking the vaccine I am sure she knew that and now she can go work at retail and cry how she wasted her 8 years at medical school. Sadly those 8 years could have gone to another student.

Then get a job that doesn’t require a vaccination! I know businesses that don’t allow men to have beards and moustaches! So what, it’s their policy! Don’t like it? Leave!

The choice was get vaccinated or get fired… they didn’t take away anything… choice doesn’t mean you get to choose options you want… as an adult your options are always: giant douche or turd sandwich… that’s it… until you die

Says the woman from a state looking to take both the right to choose and vote at the same time

Good then. Why was she there in the first place. Amazing that pro-lifers (and this anti-choicers) are now talking about their right to choose. Methinks it reeks of hypocrisy.

Where did polio go?

Idiot

I agree, you do not have to work with an organization that’s trying to slow or stop a pandemic by offering or requiring one to take a proven safe vaccine! Wanna bet she’ll take the flu shot in the fall!

Ya working for people who are trying to simply keep their employees alive and not kill the general public is for the birds. What a bunch of turkeys Have you tried removing the brakes from your car and then going for a drive That's a fun one too

So irresponsible. Definitely, she is in the wrong field!

It's not a choice to play with a patient's life at a hospital. Last I checked that was called malpractice

And we the people that have been vaccinated do not want to have an ultrasound technician give us the Covid virus we do not want you working with the public you have become a danger to your patients.

Not sorry...you chose the medical field, you use science everyday in your job. If you contract Covid you could make already ill patient’s deathly ill. There are literally millions millions of us that took the vaccine to protect ourselves and others. What makes you so special?

I don’t want to be treated by someone willing to risk my life for their so called freedom of choice.

If you work in healthcare you dont get a choice. If you dont want to vaccinate, dont work in healthcare. Stop acting like they are forcing you. It is your decision. I've worked in healthcare for 15 years and this has always been the case...and quite frankly it make sense.

No body is taking your choice away. You don't like the company policy and rules, work somewhere else.

Wake up, lady!! You work with people/patients/customers who might already be immunocompromised; comes with the job! Put on your big-girl panties and be a grown-up.

Get used to it. Employers are going to protect themselves

What a selfish person. The clients you work for are high risk 🧐

When I go number 2 I never wash my hands before I serve food because it’s my choice.

Well go find a job

Why take it if I gotta take it every year I never got the flu shot 🤷🏾‍♂️

Cool. Now do reproductive rights.

Wonder if she is pro choice on abortion

Do you get a flu shot every year? Or did you get the necessary immunizations every medical job requires? You do have a choice to not work in the medical field.

I bet she's pro-choice. 😂😂😂

She was given a choice. She chose not to be vaccinated. Why is she whining?

Her choice to catch COVID. Don’t treat them.

Yes, don’t use vaccine is his choice a the choice of hospital is fired that the freedom of election

Her choice to infect people? Go work in a cave.

She is in medical business she should act like one

And so it begins

No one took away your choice. They did, justifiably, take your job

Bye-bye..get another job. She will have to look for a healthcare job that does not require vaccinations. If I were in charge of a hospital I would want my employees to be vaccinated.

Lots of hospitals require nicotine test to prove you’re not a smoker as a condition of employment, which I ❤️ I worked at a hospital that employed smokers & it really sucked to cover those nurses on their extra breaks. I love this, it helps with short staffing (COVID sick days)

Don’t be so stupid! You work with patients that you could be infecting, and vise versa! Get the GOD DAMN VACCINE!

Stupid!!

Can’t fix stupid, but stupid nurses are scary.

Seeems about...

Good

Sounds like she is in the wrong profession then!

Give us a break, lady

they didn’t take away her choice. she’s still unvaccinated. actions have consequences, welcome to the real world.

But she gladly got a flu shot which all hospitals require annually to stay employed. Choice my ass.

Bye, bye. I don’t want you taking care of me if you’re not vaccinated.

She better find a job. abbott has cut unemployment. I'm sure McDonald's is hiring.

Ok so you don’t work for them now… you are free to make your choice… why is this news

KarrenDenise1 The Houston Hospital has every right to fire her too.

Letting science take over our hospitals.

If I want to drive a car, I need a driver’s license. If I want to work in a hospital, I need to be vaccinated.

A health worker who doesn't respect others' health is not a health worker.

They didn’t take away your choice.

She had a choice. And she made it. She chose not to work for them any more. See how that works?

she has the right to refuse being vaccinated. why dont most of you here mind your own biz! ✌️😎😂

I agree. Don’t take my right to choose. It is a GOD-given right to choose. (Deut 30:19). We the people should be told the real reason we are being FORCED to take a vaccination against our will and better judgment. We must STAY WOKE!!

Well, if you don’t want to work for people like that then don’t! It’s that simple, find another job. Typical white privilege entitlement. I want an office job that let me wear a Speedo and flip flops, don’t take away my choice 🙄 😒

You have a choice not to work for them

Don’t work for science, find another job

Uhhhh but she will take all the other mandatory vaccines required to work in healthcare

Sorry - Ms tech you're wrong - it's about protecting others and you deal with other people every day in your job.. Get the shot!

I bet she is against Pro Choice and if do she’s nothing but a HYPOCRITE

You have a choice, get vaccinated or don't work for them.

I have absolutely zero sympathy for her, which is honestly kind of rare for me. Her right to choose does not supersede the rights of patients in her care during a viral pandemic. Good luck to her finding another job. I wouldn’t want to receive an ultrasound from her right now. 🤷‍♀️

No one's taking your choice away you're free to leave your job.

What happened in a Florida gov department where everyone got infected except the vaccinated person should be enough proof the vaccine works. Two died. (not so sorry for that) Get the damn vaccine and stop playing games or politics

Just out of interest (I’m not American) did y’all get the MMR vaccination as children? Or the polio vaccination? I really don’t see the difference.

but she can take away the hospital's choice.... the patient's choice to be cared for by safe staff?

Buh bye.

Nice picture. They can use it for her funeral. Delta variant no joke.

Go work at any place you choose the choice is yours just make sure they don’t require vaccination, you see you still have a choice and stop complaining.

🤷🏽‍♀️ it was her choice to not be vaccinated. She had a choice and made it.

Thank you for leaving!

I don't want unvaccinated people taking care of me. That sword cuts both ways...

It’s amazing how these Red states try and stand behind the “my body, my choice” when it comes to the vaccine…but when it comes to a woman’s uterus and having an abortion, the “my body, my choice” doesn’t hold any weight? Why is that

Bye Karen!

Good. This could be a way of getting a lot of kooks out of medicine.

She chose not to get vaccinated which was a requirement to work where she did. She made that choice.

Houston hospital workers fired or resign over COVID-19 vaccine requirementMore than 150 employees at a Houston hospital system have been fired or resigned after the medical system implemented a mandate requiring a COVID-19 vaccine, and a judge dismissed an employee lawsuit over it. Good. These people are supposed to provide health care and yet doesn’t give a damn about themselves or whether they can spread a deadly virus? Fire them all! Easy fix….government stop paying medical bills for those getting sick; only for the vaccine. Insurance companies should raise rates unless proof of vaccination is provided.
