WASHINGTON—A bill to admit Washington, D.C., as the 51st state passed the House on Friday but will likely go no further this year, after the decadeslong campaign found fresh urgency among Democrats when federal personnel clashed with protesters on the capital city’s streets earlier this month.

That's a violation of the Constitution. Requires an Amendment with 2/3 majority approval in both houses then 3/4 of states must approve.

They would need to move the capital too another location . I say some place in fly over country. Then return the lands given from Virginia and Maryland back to each state. Then they can be a part of a state and some other place can have the honor of being the Nations Capitol.

Founders worried that if the capital were to be a state, the members of the federal government would be unduly influenced by the state simply by power of proximity to the seats. To avoid, they specifically crafted the Constitution so that the District would not be within a state.
