UOP LLC, commonly known as Honeywell UOP, conspired to offer bribes to a high-ranking official at Petróleo Brasileiro S.A , a Brazilian state-ownedAthletic trainer pleads guilty to being ringleader in NFL medical reimbursement scam

Honeywell UOP admitted to conspiring to offer a $4 million bribe to a then-high-ranking executive of Petrobras. The bribe was intended to help retain the Brazilian company's business which would win the Honeywell subsidiary a $425 million contract to design and build an oil refinery called Premium. To rectify the illegal practices, Honeywell will pay a criminal penalty of $79 million. The U.S. Department of Justice has agreed to credit up to $39.6 million of that criminal penalty against the amounts the company has agreed to pay to authorities in Brazil involved in the investigation — including Controladoria-Geral da União , the Ministério Público Federal and the Advocacia-Geral de União .
