Raffi Garabedian spent a dozen years developing solar tech. Now, he’s leading a stacked team to remake the tech at the heart of clean hydrogen production.

. But for ultra-long duration — 100 hours of storage or more — natural gas is the most common solution today.

This so-called"grey" hydrogen and its cousin,"blue" hydrogen, which is produced in the same way but with an attempt to capture and sequester the carbon dioxide emissions, are non-starters for Garabedian. The answer, Garabedian believes, is to find a cost-effective way to generate generate hydrogen without the byproducts that warm the climate.
