From an aperture of 33 mm to over 10 meters! 🔭 engineering

As you read this, a slew of cutting-edge ground telescopes are peering into the starry skies, looking for supernovae, galaxies, and other distant objects. Engineers are also hard at work on the next-generation of telescopes, which are always on the horizon. The eyes of the Earth continuously evolving in their search of the next big thing.

Through centuries, scientists have used a plethora of ground-based telescopes to catch a glimpse of the past universe through time and space. In this video by the YouTuber, you can see ten of these giants. The YouTuber explains how, 400 years ago, the first telescopes were used to examine the skies, and how Galileo's largest telescope was thought to have an aperture of 33 mm and the technology evolved until the biggest modern optical telescopes have mirrors over 10 meters in diameter.
