introduces a really fun and exciting framing narrative that's missing from the 1996 film. Basically, Matilda makes up a story about two circus performers who fall in love and want to have a child together. The story later becomes important to the main plot of the film, and is just a really cool addition to the story!Unlike the 1996 movie and the stage show, Matilda doesn't have a brother in the 2022 film.
In the 2022 film, Matilda's mum barely interacts with her; her dad is pretty much the same as Danny DeVito's interpretation of the character, who is also awful to his daughter. I just feel like the neglect is so much more obvious in this movie. Like I've said before, I guess we live in a post-Marvel world now, so this is what the people want!Though there is many a song in the film, this version of the movie is missing Danny DeVito's comforting narration : moves into Miss Honey's childhood home after"offing" her father, Magnus.
This is mentioned in the new film, but it isn't focused on too much. So we don't get scenes like Matilda and Miss Honey running around Miss Trunchbull's house trying to escape her, or Matilda going to rescue Miss Honey's childhood doll from the house.And finally, a fun part of the ending of the movie is that you get to see what Miss Honey does with the school once she takes over.
