Medical City in Dallas, one of HCA Healthcare's largest hospitals in North Texas.The health care provider that boasts it sees more Texas patients each year than its rivals is betting big on the state’s rapid growth, announcing plans Wednesday to build five new hospitals in Texas’ biggest cities.
Spokeswoman Janet St. James said the company plans to release additional details on the expansion “in the near future.”in Celina, one of the fast-growing communities in Collin and Denton counties.and 632 affiliated care sites. In Dallas-Fort Worth, its hospitals are branded Medical City. “Communities across Texas are undergoing a rapid increase in population, and the addition of these new hospitals will help our existing network meet the increasing need for healthcare services,” said HCA Healthcare CEO Sam Hazen in a statement. “We are thrilled to expand our presence in Texas, and we believe it will enhance our care and better serve our patients.”
HCA Healthcare felt the strain of the pandemic.
The company’s market share reached 25.9% by the end of 2019 and it ranked first or second in 27 of the 37 top markets that Bloomberg Intelligence studied.
