Hayden Panettiere 's ex boyfriend Brian Hickerson has been sentenced to serve 45 days in jail for 'severely abusing' her
The Heroes actress' former partner Brian Hickerson will serve 45 days in prison after pleading no contest on Tuesday to two felony counts of injuring a spouse/cohabitant/girlfriend/child's parent, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office confirmed to PEOPLE.
It comes after Hayden, 31, was granted a restraining order against him back in July last year.Hickerson was also sentenced to four years of formal probation, 52 domestic violence classes, £359 ($500) in restitution, and a five-year protective order.
His jail sentence will begin on May 7.Charges of assault with a deadly weapon, intimidating Hayden, and a misdemeanor charge of battery on a spouse/cohabitant were dropped.Hayden began dating Hickerson in August 2018.He was arrested for a felony domestic charge against her in May 2019. headtopics.com
Police said she suffered injuries and bruises to her arms, ear and neck, but the charges were later dropped.In February 2020 he was arrested again in Jackson, Wyoming, after he allegedly struck Hayden "with a closed fist on the right side of her face" during a fight, according to TMZ.
Hayden also claimed Hickerson was responsible for "multiple incidents" of "domestic abuse" in California as well as abuse in other states and Puerto Rico, according to court documents.Then, last July, he was arrested and she was granted a restraining order against him after she claimed he "abused" her "multiple" times.
She said filing for the restraining order: "When alcohol is involved, he pulls my hair, swings me around and hits me, spits in my face, has dumped water over me while I'm in bed."Hayden said in a statement at the time: "I am coming forward with the truth about what happened to me with the hope that my story will empower others in abusive relationships to get the help they need and deserve.

Hickerson was charged in an eight-count complaint that included assault and domestic violence charges on July 16.He pleaded not guilty to the charges in court and was released on bail for £253,000 ($350,000).Then in August 2020, Hayden filed more legal documents alleging that in March he contacted her in a "much more directed and threatening in manner."
