Los felinos están en peligro de extinción

Las infecciones por coronavirus en felinos —desde leones hasta tigres y gatos domésticos— han sido relativamente raras y leves, según los Centros para Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades.Pero lo que está en juego es siempre mayor con las especies en peligro de extinción. Solo quedan entre 4000 y 6500 leopardos de las nieves en la naturaleza, según la World Wildlife Federation, y solo 90 leopardos de Amur.

Naphisa y Ramil son los dos únicos leopardos de las nieves del Zoo. La organización espera que se conviertan en una pareja reproductora, aunque Naphisa aún no ha dado a luz a ningún cachorro. El primer leopardo de las nieves que vivió en el Zoo llegó en 1949. Desde entonces, han nacido 13 cachorros en el parque.
