Free drink coupons are currently useless on Southwest because the airline has't resumed alcohol service.

Southwest typically doles out free drink coupons to frequent fliers for every 10 one-way flights, but has suspended the program during the pandemic. The coupons are a coveted perk and a hot commodity on flights and on. Passengers regularly beg for some on social media when they have a problem with their flight, and usually get a polite no.

Southwest added an expiration date to the drink tickets in 2010. Eligible travelers receive four coupons per batch and they expire one year from the date of issue. Travelers often try to pass off expired coupons in hopes flight attendants won't notice or care. Southwest charges $6-$7 for beer, wine and spirits on flights.

Passengers who buy the airline's priciest ticket, called Business Select tickets, receive a voucher for a free drink that must be used the day of the flight.

Airlines Got $25 Billion in Stimulus; Industry Still Expected to ShrinkFederal stimulus money for airlines is keeping them afloat through the coronavirus pandemic, but it’s not proving to be enough to sustain the industry at its pre-pandemic size. Then maybe the stimulus should have been aimed at ordinary citizens rather than corporations. I do not agree with extreme socialism. Yet, expecting government bailouts for corporations every few years is insane to me. If they can't stay afloat they need to restructure. well, no worries -- realdonaldtrump and his crew of cronies will ensure that they have plenty of cash to get thru the rest....the average peasants should be happy to support the airlines while they themselves crater, right why not just call it U.S. Federal Air then? Tax payers might as well own them outright if we are funding them to keep them afloat.
