Community survey seeks input about alternatives to incarceration, other public safety matters

The San Diego Association of Governments is asking the public to participate in a survey designed to gather opinions on the state of public safety in the region.

Interest in the topic was partly driven by a notable decrease in the local jail population that was seen during the pandemic. According to SANDAG, jail populations decreased by more than 40 percent during the period from March 2020 through December 2021 when compared with January 2018 through February 2020.
