This spectacular Harley Quinn Cosplayer Anastasiya Dryomova has shown everyone just how far the popular anti-hero has grown away from her villainous past.

Despite her initial introduction as the Joker’s sidekick, Harley Quinn has come a long way from her villainous past, as highlighted by one incredible cosplay. Ever since Harley made the jump from cartoons to comics in 1993’s Batman Adventures #12, Harley Quinn has undergone some serious character development. Now operating as an anti-hero, reminders of Harley’s past show fans just how much the ex-villain has grown since her first appearance.

Harley Quinn has been a beloved Batman villain since she first appeared in the ever-popular Batman: The Animated Series. After being subjected to the Joker’s manipulation, Harleen Quinzel became obsessed with Batman’s arch-nemesis. Convinced she had fallen in love with him, Harleen left her life as a psychiatrist behind to become the infamous Harley Quinn.

Although now a beloved anti-hero, it’s difficult not to appreciate the character growth Anastasiya Dryomova’s Harley Quinn cosplay highlights. Since Harley abandoned her classic costume she's grown farther and farther away from the Joker. In large part thanks to her reinvention in the New 52 and subsequent appearances in the DCEU, Harley is now more associated with the Suicide Squad or even the Birds of Prey than she is with the Joker.

It’s incredible to see a talented creator pay homage to a character’s origins and highlight how much they have developed since their introduction. No longer a merciless villain under the Joker’s control, Harley Quinn is a fantastic example of how anyone can change for the better.

I'm probably the only one who loved more Harley as a villain than an anti-hero.
