Hamas countered a ceasefire proposal with its own offer, which would include a 135-day halt in fighting, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and an exchange of all of Hamas’ hostages for over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Israel would never agree to the proposal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address the issue in a press conference on Wednesday. on their own ceasefire proposal, which was delivered to Hamas last week.

Israel's government spokesman said Israel was studying the offer intently, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to hold a press conference later on Wednesday. Israel's Channel 13 TV quoted an unidentified official as saying some aspects were not acceptable and officials were debating whether to reject the proposal or seek...Hamas has presented its response to a proposal for a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza by calling for a phased Israeli withdrawal from the enclave during a four-and-a-half-month truce and a plan to permanently end the war, according to a copy of the group’s counteroffer obtained by CNN.

The Palestinian militant group that rules Gaza has proposed a three-phase deal, each lasting 45 days, that would also see the gradual release of hostages held in the enclave in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israel – including those serving life sentences – as well...Hamas has offered to release all remaining Israeli hostages in exchange for a 135-day cease-fire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the release of well over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

The terrorist organization made the offer to Israel on Tuesday in response to previous terms sent to them last week by Egypt and Qatar. The three-phase plan would see Israeli hostages released in stages – women and children first – in exchange for the Palestinian prisoners being held in Israel, including 500 Hamas would choose from a list of those serving life...
