One white supremacist said: 'Literal National Socialists are celebrating your failure. We hope that eats away at you for a long time. Hail Rittenhouse.'
The images had previously been shared by members of Rundo's Rise Above Movement, a white supremacist group from Southern California, as well as other far-right rings from across the world from Serbia to New Zealand. One such sinister image included Rittenhouse standing in front of a Sonnenrad, or Black Sun, an ancient European symbol that is popular with white supremacists with the words"f*** Antifa" - a group loathed by the far-right.
Many of the white supremacist accounts seen byNewsweekalso promoted their own groups alongside images of Rittenhouse.Brien James, a co-founder of the hardcore racist skinhead gang, celebrated the verdict with his hundreds of subscribers. He shared a depraved video where the corpse of Huber sang James Brown's 'I Got You' using a deepfake singing app.
James added in the caption:"No f**** given. I'd kill every one of you communists and eat a cheeseburger while I prepare your body for disposal. No remorse. No quarter. That's what's coming for you."A self-described"Western chauvinist" account with tens of thousands of followers posted following the verdict:"Your comrades are dead, and your mortal enemies are celebrating their victory. headtopics.com
"Your impotent rage only makes the victory all the more sweet for us. Literal National Socialists are celebrating your failure. We hope that eats away at you for a long time. Hail Rittenhouse."The message was shared in anti-Semitic channels where members uploaded grotesquely racist imagery and also praised Rittenhouse.
In an overview shared following the verdict, the Anti-Defamation League said:"As soon as the jury announced its verdict, online extremist spaces erupted in cheers and self-congratulatory rhetoric."Supporters heralded the Rittenhouse verdict as a victory for the principle of self-defense and providing legal precedent for violent responses to perceived threats, and some argued that people no longer need to avoid acting during tense situations for fear of legal repercussions, a potentially dangerous development."
Following the verdict, Rittenhouse said he supported themovement and that his case was about self-defense and not about race.Read more: Newsweek »
