The Office of Special Counsel has concluded that HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge violated the Hatch Act earlier this year when she opined on the 2022 Ohio Senate election.

The Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal investigative agency, has concluded that Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge violated the Hatch Act earlier this year when she opined on the 2022 Ohio Senate election, according to a letter obtained by POLITICO.

“I mean, I think we’re going to put a good person in that race, no matter who we choose,” she added. “But they’re both friends. I think we have a good shot at it. I know people have written off Ohio. I haven’t written off Ohio. I believe we can win the Senate race.”about Fudge’s comments with the Special Counsel’s Office, asking for an investigation into whether Fudge had violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits executive branch employees from engaging in political activities while on the job.

“By stating, for example, that ‘we have a good shot at it’ and ‘I believe we can win the Senate race,’ Secretary Fudge showed support for the Democratic Party with respect to the Ohio Senate race while speaking in her official capacity,” Galindo-Marrone wrote to Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust.

“Please note that Secretary Fudge has been advised that if in the future she engages in prohibited political activity we will consider such activity to be a willful and knowing violation of the law that could result in further action,” Galindo-Marrone wrote.

The precedent has been set by the previous administration. If you are clearly guilty of violating the Hatch Act, you don’t apologize, keep doing it, and nothing will happen. We should attach consequences or get rid of the Act.

the govt watch dog can do Sec Fudge when the trvmp admin and everyone tied to it has been brought up for their constant heinous violations of the Hatch Act. Compared to what they did a little opining isn't shit.

So? There haven't been any consequences to others violating the hatch act, so... 🙄

Please I don't want to hear about hatch act until you start with Kelly Ann Conway Ivanka chump Donald chump

Give me a break!

What Hatch Act? That thing is DEAD. Republicans killed it.

The hatch act only applies to black female representatives, and only if they're democrats, maybe? Kind of like how it's only incendiary speech if you're a dark-skinned dem, but not if you're an insurrectionist politician trying to overthrow the election so Donnie can be dictator.

The Hatch Act is a thing again? Okay, good to know.

Until every violator from the previous administration is prosecuted, I don't give a flying fuck about the Hatch act with the Biden presidency.

This is crap. Even if Fudge violated the Hatch Act she should be at the very bottom of a very long Trump administration list. Absolutely rediculous.

The Trump people completely ignored the Hatch act, and were never held accountable for their hourly violations. This is not news.

Where was the ATP during the last administration? Hypocrites.

At least 16 cult members of Orange Satan's regime violated the Hatch act, repeatedly. Among those, the record setter for of violations in 48 hours, Ivanka, Baby Jared, ' Please see me as important' Peter Navarro, & 'Wire Hangers Mom', Kelly Ann Con-away. So this means nothing.

Well, considering the majority of Americans became familiar with the Hatch Act due to the Trump administration's disregard and failure to adhere to said act; this is a story likely to fall on the deaf ears of the voters.

Oh, are we pretending we care about the Hatch Act again all of a sudden?

Wait, *now* we’re gonna start enforcing the Hatch Act? 🙄 Why is that there seems to be one set of rules for Dems and a different set for republicans cause they keep getting away with shit while Dems are held accountable.

But Kellyanne Conway didn’t? Give me a break.

Oh, is that something we care about again now?

SecFudge After years of willful Hatch Act violations it’s refreshing to see genuine apologies and an administration who takes such acts seriously.

This matters as much as Trump's BS mattered

How many times did the Office of Special council get Conway for this? Oh wait....

Fine. But why was OSC silent from Jan. 2017 until finding Sec. Fudge guilty in May of 2021? TrumpCrimeFamily

Fukkk thr Hatch Act. Isn't that what Trump and Ivanka and Jared said?

But when Kelly Ann and Ivanka did it it was hush hush really..

So Nazi Barbie, Ivanka, and Meth Skipper, Kellyanne Conway, can expect to be charged, exactly when? Goose, meet gander. Then get fucked.

The number of people who think this is OK 'because Trump!' is really something.

Wow - that was fast (as it should be). But I seem to remember the Hatch Act violations never got anywhere with KellyAnne or Ivanka or any of the former guy's lackies.

Trump let all his violators go free. Probably gave them a drumstick.

If you're a woman and you're black The Hatch Act applies. If you're white & especially if you're a Trump, no biggie.

...of ALL the conservative WHITE MALES that have violated the hatch act... they pic on a black woman!!!

Oh no

Oh fudge. Lol

Lol. Going to draw attention the the Britanica size volume of the Trump administration’s violations?

Opined? Glad Hatch Act made a return after 4 years of Kellyanne shilling Ivanka’s cheap merch all over FoxNews or T promoting his failed ⛳️ props or Rs holding events at them or Jared securing loans from Qatar for 666 Prop. Ts bullied & endorsed worst of humanity 4 🗳

It often feels as if Republicans get to play by totally different rules.

That's weird. I don't recall hearing about Hatch Act violations for the previous 4 years.

Seriously ?

Oh that was murdered by the last administration. RIP Suckers 🙂

So this conservative watchdog group, the Americans for Public Trust, they’ve been living amongst the cicadas for the last four years?

No one cares about the Hatch Act anymore. The last administration blew the whole thing up and made it irrelevant, so why should I care now?

Hatch Act violations were a GQP specialty under fmr guy.

Of course they did, she's a Democrat. The rules don't apply to illegitimate regimes like the last one.

No one cared when the Dumpster or his cronies did it….DoubleStandards

Wow! They brought that back?!!!

A complaint was made. It was investigated. A violation was found to have occurred. Sec Fudge was counselled and since she had previously publicly apologized (the next day), the matter was closed. This is the way gov't is supposed to work. This is the way we want it to work.

Is that still a thing? I guess the Hatch Act only works when Dems run afoul of it. After all, nothing happened to my so-called rep, RepStefanik EliseStefanik when the GOP held the its convention at the White House and she spoke at it.

Oh fudge!

And how many people violated the Hatch Act under Trump but nothing ever happened to them? Why bother even watching for violations. If they don’t prosecute those none matter any longer.

And she also immediately apologized, unlike any person in the Trump administration, ever.

Call when you account for every violation from the Trump administration.

Fuck the Hatch Act!!! After everyone in the previous Administration violated it, we should probably replace it with something that actually has teeth?

Why didn’t the special council get involved in Many many many former guys administration?
