Senate Republicans are signaling that they could raise the price tag of their infrastructure offer to President Joe Biden, days ahead of a pivotal series of meetings that could make-or-break Biden’s hopes for a bipartisan deal.

Republicans’ openness to spending more, and not drawing a red line at their initial offer, comes at a critical moment for the infrastructure talks that have consumed Washington.for undercutting Biden’s $2 trillion-plus proposal, piling pressure on Republicans to either go higher or get left behind by a party-line Democratic bill.

“It’s a give and take, yes,” Wicker added. He cautioned that for Republicans, “I don’t think it’s really realistic to go up much higher.” Sen. Deb Fischer said that while Republicans would consider more infrastructure spending, it would require a different approach from the White House too. The internal GOP debate over just how high to go is intensifying ahead of Biden’s scheduled Wednesday meeting with the “Big Four” congressional leaders: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Biden is also set to meet Thursday with a group of Senate Republicans who help lead committees with sway over infrastructure.

“I want to know what Mitch McConell plans to cut,” said Sen. Elizabeth Warren . “This is not a moment to say ‘We’ll repair half our roads. We’ll provide child care for half the mothers who want to go back to work. We’ll provide broadband for half the country that still doesn’t have it.’ This is the time to say ‘We’re going to make an investment in all of us.’”

I think they are playing cat-and-mouse with us. I would not be surprised if they backed out at the last minute. McConnell made it crystal clear he would block all legislation!

Guess they’ve seen the PollingData on AmericanJobsPlan and it’s looking great for BidenHarris Administration 😉

Republicans want to pay for infrastructure by cutting taxes for the rich.

isnt that nice of them. are they coming into the 21st century and understanding infrastructure is not just roads & bridges? that was the 50's

There is no reason for Democrats to pay any attention the Republicans. McConnell has already stated that they will not vote for anything the Democrats propose. The republicans have already left the party and gone home!

200 billion ain’t gonna cut it.

Biden defends economic proposals as GOP calls for paring back unemployment benefitsPresident Joe Biden had to tread a fine line Monday between heralding the economic progress his administration has made so far and stressing the need to continue supporting laid-off workers and pass his large-scale infrastructure proposal in the wake of last week's disappointing jobs report. His reasoning was solid. It's so weird how legislation that was passed didn't instantaneously fix the rampant scuttling and graft of the previous administration TRUPM❤️
