There's a tool that lets you automatically delete your location data from Google's servers after a preset amount of time.If you don't configureMaps properly, it will automatically keep a detailed log of everywhere you go, whether you're walking, driving or even flying anywhere in the world. It's wildly detailed down to the minute, and can show where you were at any moment in time. I'll show you how to automatically delete it.
That information can be helpful for you. You might want to look back and see where you went during a past trip, for example. Or you might want Google to know how long it typically takes to drive somewhere you go often. Still, it's kind of creepy to have years and years of that data stored on Google's servers. But, over the summer, Google began rolling out a feature that lets you automatically delete your saved location date either every 18 months or every 3 months.
Change the setting from "Keep until I delete manually" to "Keep for 18 months" or "Keep for 3 months." I recommend forcing Google to delete after every 3 months. There isn't much reason to hold on to your history for much longer than that, though you can select 18 months if you disagree. Now, anything older than the time you set will automatically be deleted and will continue to be deleted by Google as time goes on.
Just disable it and move to a different gps maps.
Yeah, that and so much more. But everybody does it if they get the chance. It's making them money.
If somebody locks their phones using facial rec and google maps could they not use that data in court?
You could turn off location services
I'm not Jason Bourne or banging porn stars behind my wife's back, so I'm cool with it.
This info makes the Perfect Alibi ! proves you 10 miles away at the time of the Crime, never delete it ....... Unless.........
Wow who knew...
ConwayShow Thx. Helpful.
what is I had lots of devices that other people use at same time how would google know then?
This is like the 10th time you've posted this article this week ✌️✌️
I would keep this so you can not be framed by the Government or by Police, especially if you are brown or dark skinned. Since the Government does not have access to Googles data, there is no way it can be altered to be framed or set up and is admissible in a court of law!
How many have we tested? Coronavius
Hope they can keep up
Your iPhone can too..I forget how to turn it off bc it’s been so long but look it up you have to do something with the location services otherwise it literally knows everywhere you’ve been and how long too
There is no deleting your data, only the perception of deleting it
Even if you automatically delete it doesn't stop a cyberstalker from being an invisible viewer.
Moonalice In the timeline submenu, the app says ‘These controls are currently not available for your account’. What to do next?
Nice piece of advice. Thanks
As a single person living alone this is an excellent alibi for the innocent in case wrongly accused of anything.
Dotard Tunt Is The Devil...
Thank God for Google!
Delete my ass. They store everything on their servers once you do it. They may say 'we delete your data', but once law enforcement asks them they suddenly happen to have all your data
Step 1: Don’t use Google Maps. Step 2: You’re done.
Google will track you even if you turn it off...
Just delete the entire app
Seriously, WHO CARES?! Does everyone think they are a f—king spy in the CIA $ spooking the agency like Bourne? I don’t give a frog’s fat fanny if everyone knows where I go. People need to get over themselves. You are NOT THAT IMPORTANT. Go where you go. Let know who will know 🤷♂️
Thanks very much. I just modified all my Google settings and will be sending this to my family & friends.
The other thing I feel might work is just not to login to a google account via google maps. I don't have a timeline to delete because of that.
That’s its feature in order to give you the best recommendations. I understand privacy is important but those kinds of apps like Google Maps, we shouldn’t do that. privacy
You should know about this. RT : Google Maps tracks everywhere you go. Here's how to automatically delete what it stores.
I received the yearly summary yesrerday as well. I was suprised. But it was a nice overview...
Thank you for sharing this! I am seriously considering cleaning up my digital footprint after reading this!!! Google shame on you and all other social media giants who keep using our data to make themselves rich!

Stalker alert: a friend of mine use that feature to prove he wasn’t cheating on his wife of 22 years when it showed he had never been to a particular location. It came out later that he was being set up by a kook at his job that he rejected.
I really don’t mind! if u don’t do wrong, what is the problem? It is good for your security sometimes.
Or you could just turn off location history
I don’t mine
Delete it all you want, they keep the information on their server which makes deleting it irrelevant. Please familiarize yourself with how they operate before espousing nonsense solutions.
'delete'. Nothing is deleted.
Skynet became sentient on Nov 17th 2019, it is now just appropriating systems and data for the purge. Its probably nothing.
