Winners notwithstanding, the obvious shortcomings of the 78th annual Golden Globes on-screen Sunday night were reflected in the ratings for the NBC-broadcast ceremony. Although the Comcast-owned ne…

Now, even as these early numbers have all the metrics of an all-time NBC low, let’s be honest, all of these comparisons are a bit apples to avalanches. As with almost everything in Hollywood and the wider world, the pandemic has played havoc with the calendar and the format. Absent much of the atmosphere that gives the Globes its appeal, last night’s glitchy and semi-virtual ceremony also aired nearly two months later than the 2020 show.

On the flip side, streaming numbers for such events have been on a steady-ish rise, reflective of the way TV is consumed nowadays. Really...shocker! NOT....people are struggling, in food lines, behind on their rent & just trying to survive. The Golden Globes and the flaunting of wealth was NOT what a lot of people were in the mood for. Plus, according to a lot of my friends & family, it's way too political.

Ok, but who watches live TV anymore?

But....... they used Zoom. Everyone loves Zoom. What could have gone so wrong?

Because Golden Globes don’t mean nothing. It’s only Oscars and Emmys that counts.

I didn’t enjoy it very much. It didn’t feel right.

I am surprised anyone honestly watched.

Guess people are tired of listening to Woke Hollywood, Time's Up, and BLM.

Of course you forget that the NFL season was over yesterday.

It followed an NFC wildcard playoff game last year, but Deadline barely mentions that! It's ratings were always mostly NFL spillover!

LMAOOOO IsntDaveOne

No nfl lead in.... Maybe they forgot that nugget

I mean people aren’t just confined to linear tv anymore

Hasn't this been the case for every award show in like the past 5 years though...

lol
