Well I always hoped that we would get a cutscene that reunites Osiris and Saint after the old man spent so much time looking for his friend in the Infinite Forest. What we got instead today at reset was a surprise cutscene that pops up as soon as you log into the game that has Osiris going to meet none other than Rasputin, the AI Warmind on Mars who we have pretty much left dormant since spring 2018 when he had his own DLC.
The scene is short, but has Osiris taking a combative posture in Rasputin’s core, asking the Warmind what side of the line he stands on between light and dark. And because he’s Osiris and kind of a jerk, he calls him things like “murderer” and “betrayer” in the process.does some serious damage to many of my long held theories
about the plot of that season in the process. Yes, Trials is still coming, I know that’s happening, and yet the story and PvE side of things was a mystery. My most recent guess was some combination of a Saint and Uldren story and a possible return to the Prison of Elders with the Fallen as the main villains this time around. While Saint and Uldren could still be around, I suppose, I was certainly not expecting an Osiris and Rasputin tag-team like we’re seeing here.
Now, I guess it’s time to form some new theories. One of the most popular PvE activities ever is Escalation Protocol, and I wonder if Bungie’s “shortcut” to a new PvE event this season might be a rework of that activity to add different enemies and loot and make it challenging again. That would be content without actually…building content, considering they also have the Trials debut, and I wonder if we could see maybe random rolls on EP gear and other guns brought into the mix in the same style.
Spoiler alert. Wtf
