In an interview with Travis Mills on Apple Music 1 published Wednesday , the rock star shared that My Chemical Romance's signature hit"Welcome to the Black Parade" almost didn't make the final cut of the record. Way explained that the anthemic track was nearly left off the record because it was"the hardest one to finish." He added that the song"ended up becoming deconstructed and kind of broken and in order to rebuild it into something better." Initially, the song was meant to be titled"The Five of Us Are Dying.

Though the group enjoyed"Black Parade" as a song, Way admitted that he didn't feel as if he had a personal connection with the track and didn't think the song would make it to the album as a result."It didn't feel like it was going to be on the album because all the other songs had really strong themes and titles and things like that. But we didn't want to just give up on the song.
