A Georgia prosecutor says she will not pursue charges against a state lawmaker arrested while knocking on the door of the governor's office. Rep. Park Cannon was arrested while protesting a new election law that Gov. Brian Kemp had just signed into law.

Rep. Park Cannon, an Atlanta Democrat, was arrested March 25 and charged with obstruction of law enforcement and disruption of the General Assembly. She was released from jail later that evening.

Informed of the district attorney’s decision by The Associated Press, Cannon’s attorney, Gerald Griggs, said, “We are appreciative of the decision of the district attorney after we provided witnesses to her and we plan to speak publicly very soon about our next steps.”

She wasn't protesting she was trying to go to work and they locked her out and then arrested her. Dont twist it

Good‼️👏

Kemp is the new George Wallace Trump

Thank goodness

PR event with cameras rolling.

Yeah!!!

Whoever was listed as the arresting officer should be disciplined and sent to remedial training. If someone from that office called those officers to address the knocking at the door, that person needs to be charged for misuse of emergency line or whatever they may call it there.

Sounds like an insurrection to me.

Should have never been arrested to begin with.. If you agree with that law or not, she had the right to voice her disapproval. I'm a Republican, but that whole thing is insane. WTF is the deal with the 'water' in line part? Seems to directly attack the working class.😕

This is what happens when our voices are heard. This is why we fight, this is why we march! TPUAtlanta

say thank you ...

She should have never been arrested in the first place. The officers should be arrested and the prosecutor should pursue charges against them.

I hope she sues their smirks off.

Never should have been arrested in the first place. But racist cops love to remind POC of the unearned power imbalance in this country.

🎤It would be like a slap in the face to all lawmakers of color. A blatant disregard for their roles.

GovKemp should have had these charges dropped and apologized weeks ago.

They couldn't anyways....

Coca-Cola Delta a few others, Southern Illinois has a lot of land with access to interstates across the country. We could sure use the jobs here. Just about centrally located in the United States. There is a Pepsi plant maybe Coca-Cola can give them a run for their money.

Good!

How big of them.

Of course not, the door knocker was black and a Dem

She's not prosecuting only because she knows what would happen to her City. You're already losing corporate support just imagine when you can't pay your police & the protesters are in town by the thousands. Just remember this battle over voter suppression is just getting started

I could not possibly imagine an ethical prosecutor participating in such a miscarriage of justice.

Because there was NOTHING to go after.

Rules for thee but not for me

Knocking on door while black is not a serious offense
