, a National Football League player turned actor, died in Santa Monica, Calif. on April 29 from a heart attack. He was 80 and his death was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Suzanne McRae.

Born in Memphis, Tenn., he attended Tennessee State University as a double major in drama and history, then moved on to the NFL as a defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams. After his career, he became a character actor in the entertainment industry, appearing in more than 40 movies. His resume includes

His performance in Batteries Not Included was one of the ONLY performances of a neurodivergent character IN FILM HISTORY that I can get behind as positive representation. It was outstanding on every level.
