Great idea in a state that can’t have basements because the water table is so high. At least there are no very recent tragic events caused by water damage to underground structures in close proximity that might show this to be a very bad idea.

An underground tunnel in an area with such a high water table and prone to sinkholes is a bad idea. No matter where you are in South Florida, you’re not that far from the beach.
