“When the going gets tough, you step up and help out.”

So Costolo, a partner in the popular San Francisco eatery Che Fico Alimentari, called up the restaurant's chef, David Nayfeld.

Popular San Francisco eatery Che Fico Alimentari started a fund to help pay for meals for people suffering during the novel coronavirus pandemic. While feeding people who might not have means during the COVID-19 outbreak, the meal making is also keeping some of Nayfeld’s 90 employees working with full-time benefits. Nayfeld said that he is able to keep about 17 staff members on and/or rotating on available shifts, rather than furloughing them.

Nayfeld said he is only offering free meals to those in need, but is working on the honor system to determine eligibility.

Former White House Officials: Trump Is Missing an Opportunity by Not Calling Obama, Bush, ClintonReaching out to predecessors in crisis is standard American practice, and could help unite the country during the coronavirus crisis. But Trump has rewritten the rules. Reach out to street-pamphleteer turned America-corruptor? Reach out to the predecessor that spied on his campaign? We need to stop pretending that Trump is capable of governing anything. He's not even fit to be in public. Let alone public office. He's too racist to accept help from the World Health Organization, or Obama. Plus, he's completely ignorant and incapable of deductive reasoning.
