Former Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon started his new role as Director of Emergency Services on December 18, 2023. "With 25 years as a Pflugerville resident and former Austin police chief, Chacon brings a wealth of experience to this crucial role," said a City of Pflugerville spokesperson to CBS Austin.Chacon will be in charge of developing, updating, and implementing comprehensive plans to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

"As a longtime resident, he understands the unique needs of Pflugerville, ensuring that safety and well-being remain paramount," the city said. from his chief of police role at the Austin Police Department on August 21, 2023, after 25 years with the department.
