Auto Industry needs to restructure business model. Ford received $5.9 billion in government loans in 2009 to retool plants to produce more fuel-efficient cars, and lobbied for and benefited from the cash-for-clunkers program. Ford won't be last to announce.
So, why did they hire 7,000 extra people?
Hate for anyone to lose their job. (Sigh)
Damn...after Trump is done only 10 people in America will still have a job
Trimming the fat in the corporate office is fine by me. Streamline the executive process and quit wasting money on overpayed execs who do nothing new to better the company.
It would be interesting to know if this was happening in MAGA country.
Trickle down! Good thing they got tax cuts! Thanks Trump!
ThanksTrump
Thanks Trump. Make America great again
Cant believe we bailed them out for this
Lol maga
Good job trump you failed.
Breathe, majority layoffs are overseas. Most of US layoffs are high level mgmt, and rest voluntary buyouts.
'Oh look at that our lineup is getting smaller and less diverse to fit the market trends we helped create, we don't need these guys'
Glad didn’t took that job ...
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
Gotta love them tax cuts!!! Woo!
So where is their soon to be bail out? Wait... the workers for Ford aren't bankers or hedge fund managers 😔
The scary part is as you progress into the future the 63000 jobs that are left will be reduced by 50 % which is over 30,000 and Ford won’t be the only one the ripple effect is going to be a bloodbath Trumps Make America Great Again will be renamed Made America Terrible Again
This only affects salaried, white collar employees. And only 800 of them are in the U.S.
Salaried positions, I am surprised you people aren't celebrating as you know these people are at or near the top salary wise..
“Restructuring”
Lol GOPTaxScam
Of the 2300 in the US, 1500 were voluntary buyouts. Companies have been doing this for ages.
More 'winning'
This was hacked really in the beginning of the 1990s he started to see the decline of Detroit and the automobile industry in itself power was shifted to the Asian countries in the US has failed to keep up since then
Truth be told.. Automation and decline of big cars needs...outsourcing parts manufacturering.. Is beginning of end of Ford.. if it wasn't for the F-150 250 350 and so on series...Escape..and hybrids Ford would fold..matter of fact big 3 sees handwriting on wall
So much winning realDonaldTrump . 🙄
Yes, you are winning. MAGA
What did they do with the massive corporate tax break they got last year? Give 7000 people the sack. They will probably give themselves and their cronies a big raise
Wow ‘winning big-ly’ maga...am I right? 😎🤠
Folks pictured will not be let go as the cuts are office staff
winning
3 cheers for trickledown Trump Tax Cuts
The younger Generation wants 2 B environmentally responsible. They R choosing 2 live in cities & have access to public transportation. People want electric cars or very economical cars. Europeans drive small cars Have you see how narrow the streets R in European countries?
thank god they got that massive tax cut!
🤣🤣🤣
It is good that Tump's tax cuts for the mega rich is paying off with 7,000 layoffs Ford 5,000 layoffs HP and 5,000 at kImberly-clark etc etc. Not forgetting to mention the extra money everyone is enjoying with the benefit of the fairer distribution of wealth!!!! 😪😪😪
Ford sent 7,000 jobs to Mexico, doesn’t want to call it that.
How many of those workers are here in the United states?
ImpeachTrumpNow
You can tell who didn’t read the article. They are the ones making comments about Trump. The title forgets to mention around 5000 of these layoffs are overseas and they knew about it a year ago.
This is a very stupid move by the new head of ford. He think he knows better than folks in the industry for decades. He doesn’t. Just like the guy that finished off J.C. Penney that was some tech industry guru. This guy will b gone soon
tomleykis
BOOMING ECONOMY /sarcasm
Catching up on job cutting? There’s a worthy goal!
How about not paying executives millions in bonuses ford layoffs TrumpIsAFraud
When the average price now is $45,000
Will trump take credit for this one
The president gets credit for this, right? If one claims credit for adding 7,000 jobs, doesn't one also receive credit for eliminating 7,000 jobs?
JOBS JOBS JOBS
realDonaldTrump so you’ve created more jobs, huh? What’s this about?
That's too bad
Looking good, RealDonaldTrump! Got any Twitter tantrums up your sleeve to browbeat Ford into keeping these jobs so you can claim credit?
A year from now... they will be asking for a bailout 😏
So much winning realDonaldTrump
oh boy rupert! jobs jobs jobs and so fucking much winning!
So much winning 👹
I like firing.
Ford Let’s make the F-150 $50,000, what could possibly go wrong?
This is a1st in America. Historically, its been the hourly workforce that's been the1st to go. But then again, the hourly workforce isnt comprised of multilevel redundancies and an endless stream of meetings.
We must be winning from those tax cuts right? LOL yeah right
Hello MAGA did you notice we never got the the promised Keep America Great Again Did our POTUS fail to deliver?
Can we start a betting pool on how realDonaldTrump will not say a word about this?
Perhaps folks can't afford 7-10 year car loans for overpriced autos plus tariffs. Just thinking with my wallet.
Restructuring 'Trickle Down' plan.
juanczuniga
Well duh? How do you expect retiring babyboomers to have enough left over for $100k trucks & cars when they have to remortgage their homes for children Millennials studentloan debt 💰💲🤑
randy10307 There's a storm coming, Ford is boarding up the windows. The economy may tank just before the election, due to Trump's mischief.
Apparently, cutting CEO pay is not part of the financial restructuring.
All you losing your job, call Donald Trump's to get you a job
Good luck selling those ugly rangers
Thanks realDonaldTrump
I'm here to see how Trumpists make this Obama's fault.
Mandabald But...but...the economy
Meanwhile, the CEO took home 18 million. Neoliberalism is severely damaging & destabilizing America, and has been for the past 40 years.
Restructuring = Robotics
All this winning....
The master job creator.
Just wondering how many people complaining on this thread bought a Ford or a Chevy instead of a foreign car. Funny how people forget that a company can’t survive if it’s not selling cars. CheckYourHypocrisy
I wonder if CEO salary and bonuses will be cut.
We need to make even more money.
Wait, I thought the left hated CEOs and high-paying white-collar jobs? This move will create more good paying blue-collar jobs for Ford, but y'all don't care about that because y'all have too much hate for your president.
Here to see how many people blame Trump instead of the company themselves...
So much wining!
Make America Great Again. Lolololol
Thoughts and Prayers
Chop At The Top!🙄🤢😱
“Restructuring plan”?! Such an offensive euphemism. Call it what it is. Massive, devastating layoffs. Ford
Salaried being the key word.
Winning my ass
We borrowed two trillion for this?
Thanks realDonaldTrump
Here’s an idea for auto makers, focus on making vehicles with strong quality engines, transmission, suspension etc and stop putting bullshit in cars like steering wheel warmers. That way you can sell great quality vechiles that will last a very long time for an affordable price
but but but... GDP! GDP!
Did ANY of you actually read the article Only 800 MANAGEMENT jobs will be part of the overall loss in N America- the rest are overseas- ALL MANAGEMENT jobs. Ford is very top heavy & decided the get lean. For those who can’t/won’t read- that’s a good thing!
“Restructuring” no it’s cause you make shitty cheap quality vehicles and you’re losing a lot of money.
RU tired of WINNING yet America.
Trump is winning!!!! Cult45
Hackett as CEO was always a bad idea. Nobody at Ford believes in him.
Don't be salary..
MAGA
Is this due to the tariffs? Or greed? I know they saved a shit ton with those tax cuts
Ford F150 is very attractive to me, but the price of this car may rise soon because of the trade war, the most important thing is after buying it, if it breaks down, importing parts from the United States may be more expensive. I'd better choose Toyota Landcool Luze.
AllResistNews MAGA
Weak car designs. Why doesn't Ford follow Subaru's lead and make Utility Cars?
Trump's economy is not sustainable. Get ready for the crash.
MAGA
Just in time for them to pay that $4billion lawsuit and a buy back for lying to their customers
Just remember trump tax cuts INCENTIVIZED outsourcing.
MAGA
realDonaldTrump MAGA winning
Another reason why Ford sucks
But realDonaldTrump keeps saying those auto jobs are pouring back in to America
7,000 more workers that will vote Democrat next year.
That’s because of two things. One... Cars are part of the science world and robots are taking over jobs humans used to do especially dangerous jobs. And two, more and more people are buying foreign cars and Hondas. No one likes Ford cars anymore. They are not getting the numbers,
Send a thank you letter to tRump.
Looks like make CEO salary great again
All these wins🤦🏽♀️
Thanks for screwing this up again, realDonaldTrump are thanks for MAW... (Making America Weak..!)
That'll help the trump rust belt strategy
“globally”...how many in US...due to EU tariffs?
Please remind the price tag of their tax cut, and the amount they simultaneously spent on stock buybacks
Just MORE MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, HUH?
But but Trump said...... oh he’s a liar... never mind
I don't think 7000 thousand is ten percent of the work force.. r u forgetting population is over millions in USA ALONE.
Ford China will have more bad news
More winning!
HarryShannon “No one plant will shut down under my presidency. Not one.” -realDonaldTrump WINNING!!!
Not all are domestic jobs
Cc: realDonaldTrump
More winning...
Those steel tariffs didn’t help. Neither will NAFTA 2.0
So in other words automation...
