But recent studies suggest that for-profit ownership may have endangered residents by skimping on care, while funneling cash to owners and investors.provides a good example of the way for-profit nursing homes are run and why that business model is is coming under scrutiny in the wake of the pandemic. When we grow up as a nation and start learning from Japan, which has little to no nursing prisons, this won't even be an issue. An advanced nation and culture takes care of their elderly without old folks homes.

Brings to mind the WSJ piece on hospital lobbyists in NY that pushed Cuomo to allow covid patients back into nursing homes. These administrations are about profit, they aren’t bothered with saving lives. Major reform needed.

Let the owner of these death traps cut there salaries to make up for the loss. They’ve been profiting and abusing people for years. Stop the abuse first, then maybe more assistance would be warranted!🤬🤬🤬

Kinda like for-profit prisons that bribe judges to give out harsher sentences to more people more often. Only now it's en vogue. How has either ever been considered anything but profiting off of human misery?
