‘Hypermilers’ in pursuit of extreme fuel efficiency in electric cars invite road rage with painfully slow driving. ‘They don’t understand what’s going on.’

Jan. 18, 2022 9:54 am ETThe Ford Mustang Mach-E electric car can hit 60 miles an hour from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. Fergal McGrath prefers to keep the needle stuck at a grandfatherly 40 mph. He’s after a different kind of bragging rights.Mr. McGrath is a hypermiler, someone who tries to coax as much mileage as possible from their fuel, whether gas or electric. The practice requires driving at a plodding pace to conserve energy, around 40 to 50 mph on a gas-powered vehicle. Not one person said how far they get, at highway speeds, on a full charge. Load of horse shit. Remind me to cancel my WSJ subscription. 10k on my Tesla Model 3. Usually cruise 75+, with HVAC and radio. I don't worry about range since 99.9% of the time I have enough to get home and charge overnight. On road trips you use a Supercharger/DCFC.

I thought this was the Onion. Or... buy a Tesla Hahaha idiots Or…. drive like normal, charge at night like your cell phone, and enjoy never stopping at a gas station ever again. Or admit your EV isn’t ready for real world use and buy one that is or wait for the technology to improve. Wait and see, the new things is always questioned at first. Everything will be fine: more charge stations, bigger battery, faster charge.

I’ve had an EV since August and I’m never going back. Aka Walking Dont brake or accelerate more than once, dont do hills, drive on a test track, dont drive at over 25 C or below 16 C, avoid headwinds (or any wind), dont use the A/C, or stream music, and dont have any luggage or passengers (or a driver at 75kg+), and you will get 250-400 ks

Electric cars are FAR more efficient at EVERY speed “AEV batteries convert 59 to 62 percent of energy into vehicle movement while gas powered vehicles only convert between 17 and 21 percent.” For gas cars not so different According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), most cars’ fuel efficiency peaks at speeds from 35 to 60 miles per hour.

🤣😂🤣😂 Did the oil lobby write this article? What a wonderful piece of shit is a car that you have not to use the radio to arrive home? And you even pay for such a scrap?
