Italy appears to be turning the corner in its battle against the coronavirus. Here's how they did it, messy democracy and all.

MILAN—Rapper Federico Lucia’s music is filled with scathing lyrics about Italian society.

But when the novel coronavirus struck his hometown of Milan in March, he and his wife, fashion entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni, used their celebrity to solicit donations. The $5 million they collected quickly turned into a new 20-bed intensive-care unit for coronavirus patients at the city’s San Raffaele Hospital.

This is Russian propaganda, meant to sway Americans towards authoritarianism. Who wrote this? Does your editorial board realize that this is a de facto manifesto against democracy, against individuality or freedom? Italy has the most disastrous results, why propose them as guide?

Messy democracy needs to come out to some serious retrospection about its future and the value it places on its citizens.

I’m not qualified enough to grade a countries response but I can say I fell in love with the Italian people. Feisty, faithful, passionate and full of love for their elderly. I’m so glad that things are improving. I’ve shed many tears and been driven to my knees in prayer for them
