Would it be illegal if the mother did it?

“Republican” states attorney.

It is assault and the antiquated practise should be banned completely!

I'm 68. Physical punishment was discontinued in our elementary school after the school vice-principal hit a young child so hard, he broke the child's tailbone.

Definition of child abuse if not ur child ?

WTF!?

I don't know how they don't consider that a crime it's called assault.

Of course not. It’s all about the drama and sounds that matter. It can be shocking but in the presents of a parent can save a child years of grief. Totally support‘capital’ punishment under those conditions.

Bizarre. I can't imagine our principal here in California being on board with this. She'd likely suggest a parenting class and counseling. Kids don't act this way for no reason. There is an underlying need that is being unmet.

Was the legal counsel Robert Kraft?

Let’s hit hurt with a paddle

And in response the mother should gone off

i hope he will like water sports

Jesus what century are we in?

Excuse me?!

All society this is message to you. And This question to all politician... via

So u can beat other people’s kids now! Hold my beer cuz there is some lil f’s I need to catch up with

The powers that be in FLA are rewinding societal norms to the 1950’s. Corporal punishment of children. Jim Crow era voting laws. Abortion laws. Is this the new GQP? Why hit reverse?

If the child was white would the treatment have been the same?

When I was 7, a teacher, some ancient relic covered in face powder, came up behind me & cracked me across the head with the board duster. I saw stars. She said I was talking in class. I wasn't, it was the kid behind me. Told my mom when I got home She said I must have done it.

Rivera asked the school to spank the child for her, according to Self's testimony. Self told the mother that she would have to go to the school, request such discipline, and be present during the spanking. According to Self and Carter, Rivera proceeded to do so, the review said.

Florida.

Bull. How many other children get paddled because of accidents after the parent paid for the mistake? How many of them have parents who don't speak English and weren't told they can say no? There is even an anti-capital punishment policy in the school.

So it’s okay to hit a child but it’s assault to hit an adult? I dont see it that way at all.

BULLSHIT. Lawyers...get in touch with her for the civil suit. Because I sure know that if I was on the jury the award would be BIG.

Her 6 year old threatened to call the police? And since a parent says it’s fine for a teacher to spank her child it’s ok? Smh. Florida is flat out trash.

Absurd decision!

She absolutely did. Wtf

knightgoody So if I was to beat the principles child with a wooden paddle it would still be legal? Or how about the States attorney's child?

So what *would* make it a crime? The number of blows? Intensity? Bruising? Broken bones? If the kid passes out?

Oh, the hell the principal did!

Then the mother should face charges.. Who let's someone assault their child?

It's illegal in the UK.

So, parents gave their power over their own kids' discipline.. to a PRINCIPAL? That violates the CHILDS RIGHTS. WTH

It results in resentment not respect.

so, if is ok for teacher do this? the reason so many children get physical abuse in some case they die from their abuser, the court will say is not a crime. Teachers are there to protect and set the example, I see a problem here not only with the principal also the mother😡😠😡

It absolutely should be a crime!

What’s that now?

____Roar____ ...wut

the kid was 6. it was fucking excessive. It was clear the point of the punishment was for the teacher to release anger, not to discipline.

Hmmm... If mom would have kicked the teacher's azzhole up around her neck would that be a crime?

In front of the child's mother, I assume she was strapped in a restraint chair

I can’t read it. It makes me sick.

Kinda sounds like a crime to me. Just sayin.

What is wrong with Florida?

If the mother was there, why didn’t she stop the paddling. Surely there were alternatives. But instead she recorded it.

Then the Federal Government should step in. AG Garland must investigate/prosecute/jail this principle for abusing, assaulting a child. Child Abuse must Never be tolerated

Corporal Punishment in Fl.

😤😱

Florida is a shit show. All the way around.

PRIVATEPART ErogenousZone Why do some adults feel such is healthy for children?

Isn't hitting anyone pretty much assult?

Florida would allow an assault on a child, sounds like them.

It’s something that they used to call punishment which no longer exists today.

She sure did lack professionalism and decency, imo! She is the reason I would NOT want my child spanked at school- boo on her. Bad call.

It would’ve been her first and last!

Frightening

What a bunch of BS. Glad I don’t live in Florida. Instead of calling it the sunshine state, it should be called “ the state that you can abuse your kids without fear of prosecution.”

A spanking is just that, a spanking. Some people on here think that the kid was beaten. Huge difference!!

But if a parent do that at home with their child and they find mild bruises, wouldn’t they arrest the parent? Is there a double standard here?

Florida law still allows paddling

There Is A Problem With The Way That Spanking Took Place,One Little Pop On The Butt Mildly Would Have Been Sufficient For A Six year Old Child,The Child Was Not A Six Grader Kid.Three Pops On The Child's Butt Was Excessive And The Screaming In The Childs Face By Two Adults.

Quick question: would it be a crime to do this to an adult?

If you think it's okay to hit children because you got hit when you were a child and 'turned out just fine', then I have some unfortunate news: you didn't turn out just fine.

It's amazing how Florida is willing to overlook child abuse. First they want to sexually humiliate children by checking their genitals. Then it's ok for school personnel to physically abuse a child and then humiliate them. Where are the counselors? Mental health professionals?

Imagine being a 'small government' conservative and being ok with the idea of governmental employees spanking your kids

You took it upon yourself to be punitively abusive with no moral conscience to acknowledge self respect or dignity for all. No awareness of psychological or mental health damage

Florida is the cesspool of the U.S.

Desantis likes this 👍

State sanctioned violence to miners is allowed in Florida?

That’s what I like about the south!!

The question is: if the mother turned around and paddled the school principal would that not be a crime, too? Anybody puts their hands on my child and I am putting my hands on them!

So what exactly is the cut off age for beating someone being illegal? Why is anyone in jail for beating someone then? Okay to beat a child (model that behavior) then tell them it's actually wrong and they can go to jail? Stupid.

That's medieval!

A veces los maestros son más padres que los progenitores de sus alumnos, es mejor reprender a tiempo que luego quejarse porque el niño forma parte de pandillas al estar y vivir desatendido.

Not my child. I wouldn't go for that. My son is special needs. I only allow therapeutic hold to stop him from being hurt. No hitting though.

1950's daily school discipline. I think it worked.

I'm not surprised she got off! Horrible!

Then I guess if the mother takes her out on the playground and paddles her back then it’s not illegal either? Huh

She definitely did.

Correct me if I’m wrong Isn’t a teachers Job to teach not to instill fear what a pain doesn’t bode well for the teaching

I disagree.

the kid needed it and so do the parents
