States with low vaccination rates are driving a new coronavirus wave sweeping over the nation, with the much more transmissible Delta strain filling hospitals across the southern U.S.

, the most for one day in any state since the pandemic began in early 2020.

. Public health experts, meanwhile, say that masks can help blunt the one advantage the Delta variant appears to enjoy: its increased transmissibility.Overall, the coronavirus vaccines remain exceptionally good at preventing infection in the first place. And even when vaccinated people do become infected with the Delta variant, they tend to experience only mild illness. But they still can spread the coronavirus, as a recent case study of a Provincetown, Mass., cluster showed.

Vaccination rates in Provincetown are among the highest in Massachusetts, which is the second-most vaccinated state in the nation after Vermont. And there appeared to be little resistance to masking among its residents and visitors.

Um that’s not true and hospitals are not full. Stop lying.

And the dumb are surprised?! 😂

BS fake news fear propaganda!

This type of article is exactly why the media has lost the trust of the people. How convenient for a liberal media source to run a story like this with mid term elections coming. I have no party affiliation, I would vote either side and its this type of agenda that is a turnoff

All I can say is I’m sorry. I’m in Austin Texas. As of Friday July 30 we are at STAGE 5. I loathe Abbott🤬

Challenge accepted. If I win, hamburgers stay on the menu.

Why some states are pushing back on masks amid delta variant surgeDespite a rise in cases and hospitalizations, several states are pushing back against the CDC's new guidelines -- which have changed dramatically over the past few weeks. The CDC's reversal comes just two months after it announced it would no longer recommend masking for vaccinated Americans, and just as the nation was breathing a collective sigh of relief at the precipitous fall of cases and hospitalizations due to the rollout of mass vaccinations. 'The time for government mask mandates is over,' Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted after the CDC's announcement on Tuesday, adding that 'now is the time for personal responsibility.' California leads over Texas in daily cases but Texas was only included because of less conservative restrictions on the pandemic. What a bias, send them to MSNBC. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
