Antonia Novello said people have to decide what's more important: what governments say as they downplay the importance of masks "or the salvation of your life and your child."Aug. 23, 2021, 8:58 PM UTCMIAMI — Antonia Novello, the first Hispanic person to serve as U.S. surgeon general, is spending her birthday on Monday administering Covid-19 vaccinations at a health center in San Juan, Puerto Rico — and urging more Latinos to get vaccinated and wear masks.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ requirement to allow parents to opt out of having their children wear masks. Last week, the state gave two districts, Broward and Alachua, 48 hours to comply with DeSantis’ order or face the withholding of funds equivalent to the salaries of the superintendent and school board members.from Palm Beach County staged a walkout on Monday to encourage the community to get vaccinated and described the exhaustion they feel as they continue treating unvaccinated patients.

“I always say if you are in a close containment, wear your mask. ... At this stage of the game, the mask and the distancing is your salvation,” Novello said by telephone from Sociedad de Educación y Rehabilitación, in San Juan, where she was inoculating people. Novello drew a comparison with Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, where teachers must be vaccinated and schools have to comply with regulations, like ventilating classrooms, and masking is enforced. “I don’t see the same in Florida,” she said.

Novello said she was surprised in May when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that fully vaccinated AmericansThe CDC reversed course in July, urging people in Covid-19 hot spots to. The guidance is only a recommendation, leaving it up to governors and local officials whether to mandate masks.

“At this moment, the politics is interfering with the common sense of the people wearing their masks,” Novello said.gathering of all living former U.S. surgeon generals

Like Joe Biden 'common sense'? I mean which 'common sense' are you referring to? The fact that the long term clinical trials arent finished? The fact that it has a 42% efficiency rate? The fact that it's the fastest FDA approval perhaps in history. Spare me.

'common sense' she says to people eating sheep worming medicine.

Sense is not common these days. Or has it ever been common?

Liberal logic: ---Requiring IDs to vote is suppression but requiring vaccines is fine. ---Worship George Floyd who abused women, but hate on Ashli Babbitt who broke a window. ---Welcome refugees who think women and gays are inferior, yet hate on unvaccinated people. Good luck.

Why do they feel the need to bring someone's ethnicity into a headline? It's dumb shitike that that keeps race shit going!

Ivermectin, a deworming drug, should not be used to treat COVID, health officials sayInternal CDC data showed a 19-fold increase in the use of the unproven and potentially dangerous drug. The fact that the CDC and news outlets have to tell people this makes Darwin the best ever. They know it’s working for Drs who have seen recovery in patients and that is why. They can’t show a treatment that works, otherwise by law vaccines won’t be approved thru FDA Just let em do what they want. Freedumb.

Covid: Government warns Covid test firms over misleading pricesMore than 80 Covid test firms are issued with warnings and could be taken off the government's website. It's a roaring business these days..... About time. None of those companies offered tests at the affordable rates that were advertised. Those tests are exorbitant. Not sure why the UK Gov took so long to say anything. And why aren’t NHS tests accepted? Seems farcical, and more like a money making scheme. Rip off Britain
