A forest in the Amazon is being illegally burnt in the northern Brazilian state of Para in 2009.Brazil's Amazon rainforest experienced an 84% surge in wildfires this year, according to the country's space agency.

The National Institute for Space Research used satellites to record the number of wildfires that occurred in several Latin American countries between January 1 and August 20. INPE's data showed that the number of fires in Brazil rose by 84% from the same period in 2019, with more than 70,000 fires detected in Brazil's Amazon Rainforest so far this year — the highest number since records began in 2013.in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on Monday, the BBC reported, with strong winds reportedly transporting smoke to the city from fires burning more than 1,700 miles away.

INPE's findings come amid rising concerns over Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's environmental policies, with his prioritization of the economy potentially driving focus away from protecting Brazil's rainforests. Thanks to cattle ranchers and idiots who eat Big Macs

Someone turn off the DEWs.

...and it’s not due to global warming.

Fake news “The US space agency, Nasa, has on the other hand said that overall fire activity in the Amazon basin is slightly below average this year.”

A RAIN-forest is burning. Not good. Especially since it produces over 20% of the world's oxygen.

This almost reminds me of what happened when that volcano that has a lake at the basin now as its remains carried what it arruped and then the winds carried what came out of it around the world for 5 years. FORTUNATELY IT HAS NEVER ERRUPTED AGAIN!

News has been crying 'The Sky is Falling' for so long that if something really did happen Nobody would believe them. Cut their own throats they did

😠😠 FIX IT !!!! 😠😠 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I want my plastic straw back

Since records began in 2013. Wow, that's a lot of data to base this article on. The worry is in the latter part, where the need of other countries across the globe for promoting the deforestation.

look at all that Carbon burning!!!!!!!!

They need to rake the forest like Trump says

An outrage. Another President on par with dotard Donnie.

Yeah...let’s destroy the one thing that produces the largest amount of oxygen for the planet...

major burns are healthy for a forest. they always come back, quick, unless they are chopped down for development

The only one to blame is Jair Bolsonaro

Yall are late
